Chapter 3
On Monday morning Saya made sure to be up extra early in the morning. After showering she pulled on a pair of tights and a white collared shirt, tucking it into a short houndstooth skirt. Next were a pair of heeled black boots and a black cropped sweater. She finished the look by pulling her long hair up into a high ponytail.
Finished getting dressed, Saya grabbed her bag and quietly headed downstairs so she didn't wake up any of the sleeping males. Before anyone woke up she had successfully packed lunches for Thatch, Ace, Luffy, and herself, as well as started breakfast for everyone. As she juggled the eggs and bacon that was cooking, she cut up some fruit and made coffee.
Thatch was the first one downstairs, his eyes widening when he noticed all the work she had done. "You, my dear little sister, are in fact an angel sent from above and we truly do not deserve you," he stated mater a factly.
Saya giggled, "someone has to take care of you guys. I doubt you even eat breakfast when I'm not here."
Thatch let out a small laugh, "we don't."
"I SMELL MEAT," Luffy's booming voice suddenly filled the house as he rushed downstairs and into the kitchen.
"I'll give you some of the bacon that's finished cooking if you go wake Ace up for me," Saya suggested as she held a few pieces of bacon above Luffy's head.
"DEAL," he yelled as he grabbed the pieces from her hands and ran upstairs to wake up Ace.
There were a few loud bangs and a lot of yelling, but soon a very tired Ace was following Luffy down the stairs sloppily dressed in his work clothes. "Zoro is coming in soon for a cup of coffee, he normally drives us to work so we pay him for it with coffee," Ace yawned as he sat down at the dining table.
Saya simply nodded as she pulled an extra plate and mug out of the cupboard. She started piling food onto plates and pouring coffee into cups as the green-haired man walked in the door.
"Morning..." he grumbled, gaining grunts from everyone except Saya as he sat down at the table.
As soon as everyone was seated she placed the mugs and plates in front of everyone, taking her normal spot at the table next to Ace and now across from Zoro. Thank yous filled the air from her brothers. Not hearing it from Zoro, she looked up at him to be met with a very bewildered face.
"Y-you don't have to feed me..." he muttered.
"Shishishi! I'll take it if you don't want it, Zoro!" Luffy reached his hand over to Zoro's plate only to have it swatted away from Saya.
"Don't eat his food, Luffy! I gave you more than everyone else already," she snapped, turning her face back to her meal, "and Zoro, you're already here so you might as well eat breakfast with us."
"O-okay, thanks..." he whispered as he noticed her avoiding eye-contact with him.
The tension might have been noticed between the two if Ace didn't collapse face first into his meal as if on cue. Thatch and Saya let out a groan, one picking his face up while the other defended his food from Luffy.
When breakfast was finished and everyone had cleaned up, Saya handed the lunches she made for them to her brother. "Sorry, if I had known that you drive Luffy and Ace to work now I would have made you lunch too," she apologized to Zoro as she put her own lunch in her bag.
"Don't worry about it. I wouldn't expect you to do something like that for me," he scratched the back of his head.
Despite putting on a strong-front, Saya had actually been dying inside while interacting with Zoro, leaving her in a bit of a funk the rest of the morning. Thatch tried to converse with her on the car ride to work, but she offered little more than a simple "yes" and "oh" every once in a while. She was a little bit better when Robin was showing her around the museum and telling her what she was going to be doing, offering more of a conversation to her best friend as well as a forced smile. Robin could tell something was up but decided not to push it.
