So the other day I learned about something new, it's called seafoam! I don't know what it is exactly but, my husband ran it through my gas tank and several different areas of the car that have pipes and tubes. Apparently it cleans out all the gunk and makes your vehicle run smoother, kind of like removing plaque and cholesterol from the arteries in a human.

So basically every so often you need to put Seafoam in your tank to make it run like never before. On the flip side, Gods word is seafoam for your spiritual engine. It cleans out all the junk and makes you run better!

What are some things spiritually that can clog our engines? How about depression, anxiety/worry, spirit of fear, or anger? Those will take up a LOT of your time and energy, they will drain you and keep you from being productive and doing Gods will.

What about jealousy, bitterness, lust, a spirit of un-forgiveness, dwelling on the past, being prideful, conceited/too focused on receiving attention for ourselves? Those are like cancer and will eat you alive, they will slowly consume you. They will drive you to do ugly things. Don't think that Satan is above using these things to distract you from God. It starts with a phone, and what are you feeding yourself through the internet? Things that help you focus on good things of God, or things of the world that distract you and make you feel bad? Guard your hearts y'all, don't let junk and sin in. Don't let satan distract you from the purpose God created you for.

Here are a few verses to help us clean out our engines:

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:20-27‬ ‭NLT‬
"My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don't lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body. Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech. Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don't get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil."

Phil 4:4-9
....8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise..."

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Gods Word will keep us running clean. We need to read it daily! A good exercise is to pick psalms or proverbs, any book really, and if it's the 5th, read the 5th one. If it's the 27th of the month, read psalm 27. Pray before you read, ask God to show you something new. Pray after you read, ask God to help you carry out those words in your life that day.

Another thing we can do is to pray daily. Ask God to clean out your heart, your mind and spirit from all negativity and sin. Run that spiritual seafoam through your engine daily. Find an accountability partner that will help you stay on track.
