Chapter 23:Picking up the pieces with Neo in Tow

(Y/n POV)

It was 12:45am by now when I asked Neo for the time.

We'd finished the robbery that Roman asked me or should I say blackmailed me to do for him. Neo used her semblance to let's us both escape and now we were both on our way back to our base of operations. Neo out of the blue decided to hold hands with me, I was still hanging on to Romans cane so she was carrying the silver briefcase containing the Gravity Dust along with that parasol of hers in the other hand. I gave credit for carrying to clunky items in one hand and Frankly I didn't mind this at all with the Afterparty that we had afterwards.

My frien-....well now more likely Former friends and teammates now probably resented me with every fiber of there being. I explained to them as best I could without sounding like I turned my back to them. They seemed awful disappointed with me when I did, but when I dropped the ball that I was also working this tandem with the White Fang, Haru practically went from 0-100!, along with him punching me in the face.

Lilly seemed to struggle with accepting that I was really on their side but from the tone of her voice it seemed that she ended up siding with Haru on this one. I couldn't really blame her either, I was dressed like Roman Torchwick so my credibility that I was only temporarily involved with Vale's criminal element wouldn't fly at all.

I don't know what exactly Haru's problem was against the White fang but he definitely hated them with a passion. Maybe that's where Lilly picked up her Anti White Fang rhetoric from when she gave me that talking to during the initiation in the Emerald Forest.

At any rate I was afraid of the repercussions this was bound to have, they'd most likely go back to beacon and spread the word that I'm in league with the bad guys to everyone we know. Team's RWBY, JNPR and Velvet, Coco and whoever else was in their team would turn their backs to me. Who knows hat would happen once word spread to the schools faculty and eventually professor Ozpin.

This was spiraling into a mess that I was desperately trying to resolve. And yet even more problems were being piled onto it. I thought I finally found a solution to fix my problems but then it felt like life just kept snowballing more of my problems into it,

(Y/n):"Life's out to get me isn't it?" I thought to myself as I scratched the back of my head with the hook end of Romans cane.

I felt a gentle squeeze from my hand that holding Neo's. I turned to look at her and saw she was giving me a look of mild concern. I saw her pull out her scroll, Type something up in a jiffy and held it up for me to read.

Neo:"Are you ok? Are you still thinking about your friends?" she typed.

I looked back ahead of me to the sidewalk we were walking on before I nodded weakly. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't feeling just a Little bit Crestfallen. Betraying Someone's trust hurts one person, but when it hurts you as well...it gets kind of hard to stay optimistic.

All of a sudden Neo came to an abrupt stop. Before I could turn and ask her what was wrong she let go of my hand and swiped Roman's Hat off of my head revealing my Faunus ears.

I suddenly felt a sharp tug on my Faunus ear that was closest to Neo.

"OW!!Dammit she was pulling on them again!? Why is this method a favorite for people to hurt me with!?!" I thought to myself as I felt my head being tugged down to her level.

Then out of the corner of my eye Neo knelt down, set down the briefcase on the ground next to her before she clapped both of her hands onto my face releasing my ear from her grasp and forced me to face her before Neo gently but swiftly pressing her lips against my own. I blinked several times out of confusion trying to comprehend why or how this was happening and how exactly did she smell so damn good without me noticing until now. Smelled a lot like Strawberry and Vanilla with a tiny hint of chocolate but after a few seconds I dropped the question and just let myself close my eyes and melted into the kiss myself.
