Everything changes

Mikael never actively took part in his children's interest outside the norm. Whether it was age or curiosity that suddenly awoke in him, whatever it was, he now told his driver to take him to Charly's school.

In the school everyone looked at Caroline and Klaus. And she reacted exactly as her friends thought she would knowing her feisty impulsive nature. Klaus felt her heavy slap on the cheek burning, as she walked out of the door of the gym. He went after her.

"This didn't go well..."- Elena said to Elijah.

"You did predict that she wouldn't give him an easy pass..."- Elijah said. They now continued to watch the rest of the gig.

Rebekah was curious as to how the thing will carry on as Klaus caught up with Caroline outside on the street. 

"Caroline...wait!"- Klaus called out.

She stopped and took a deep breath before she faced him now.

"You don't just come back and think that you can pick up where you left things... "

"I made a mistake..."- Klaus said sincerely- "it was..."

"Easy to run... than to face everything and try to cope?!"- she said.

The rain fell mercelessly and they were both soaked now, but none of them really cared.

"I am not this perfect guy... I have millions of issues...but I know that I love you...!"- he said.

"Love is not the problem...the problem is that,,, if it gets tough...you will bail...and I don't want this!"- she said and now walked away hailing a taxi. One came up immediately and she hopped in.

He stood there for a little while till he saw Elijah coming up to him with Rebekah with the news that Mikael was in an accident and was rushed to hospital.

Bonnie and Kol stayed on to tell Charly and Henrik what had happened, be there for them, as they where getting ready to pack all the instruments.

When they arrived in the hospital the news was devastating. Mikael died in the ambulance, as they tried to reanimate him. The injuries were severe as he was not wearing the seat belt. 

Everyone present was shocked with the news. Esther collapsed. Rebekah cried inconsolably. Elena tried her best to calm her down. She loved her father very much, she looked up to him and wanted to be as successful as he was. 

Elijah managed the whole situation as it was expected of him, making sure that everyone was all right and that things are done accordingly. They all now depended on him.  When he took care of the initail admin details, he came to Elena and Charly who were sitting with Rebekah.

"How is mother?"-Rebekah asked.

"She is going to be fine. It was a shock. You need to go home now with her. You two also need to rest a bit. We will have a long day tomorrow..."-Elijah said. Rebekah didn't dispute. Then he turned to Elena and said that he would be home shortly. She and Charly went home.

He went to his hospital study. He needed time to himself. No matter how many differencees his father and he had about his choices and distancing himself from the family, he loved him.

"I wanted you to work alongside me, like I did with my father and he with his... but I see that you are not business savvy... you want to save lives...so be it."- Mikael said to the eighteen year old Elijah.

Elijah remembered the cold rigid demeanour, so very victorian. When he graduated as the first in his class, when he became a Professor, in both ocassions he had received letters of congratulations, but Elijah knew that they were written by his father's PA. Elijah had wished they were hand written by his father. He never understood why it was hard for the old man to show his real emotions.
