"Hey, dad, I'm almost done with packing all my stuff."
Alec was looking at his father as he stood at his doorway. The Lightwood family was preparing for their summer vacation to Hawaii. Alec and his siblings, Jace, Izzy, and Max, always looked forward to this all the time.
"Right but there's something I need to tell you," His father said, dripping his voice lower.
"What?"
"Sit down."
Robert gestured to the free space on Alec's bed. Alec sat down and Robert walked inside.
Robert sighed and said: "Alec, you're not going with us to Hawaii."
"Why not? What's wrong?"
"Instead of going to Hawaii, you will be sent to conversion therapy until you are deemed normal again."
"Conversion camp? Normal?"
Alec's anxiety was shooting through the roof right now. Alec hadn't even told his father that he was gay. The only ones who knew were Izzy, Jace, Max, and his mother, Maryse. There was no way they could've figured it out because they promised that they would keep it a secret.
"How did you-"
"Father's instinct."
"No..."
Alec was holding tears back as he faced his so-called father.
"You can't do this! Dad, I swear I'm not-"
"Let's face facts, Alec, you're gay and I know it."
"So why can't you deal with it?"
"Because Alec you'll be the predecessor of the family law firm and we need an heir to take it when you die. When you're gay, you can't give birth to-"
"So what? I can adopt children, there's always a child that needs a home and loving parents."
"I'm sorry but that's not an option."
"Who says so?"
"I say so and you will abide by this rule Alec whether you like it or not!"
Robert was standing above Alec and that's when Alec was down on his bed. His heart was beating faster, he could've sworn that he was going to have a heart attack right now. He had never been so afraid of his father before.
"Look at you, your gayness has created fear in you and men aren't supposed to have fear."
"Dad, please, don't do this. I'll do whatever you want, I'll be your slave, I'll do anything just please don't make me go."
"It's decided Alec, you're going. You can finish packing your things and hurry quickly. You leave in three days."
Robert closed the door as he walked out of the room. Alec sank to the side of the bed and was shedding tears. He couldn't believe that this was happening to him. Alec remembered when he was little that his father told him that he would love him no matter what. Looking back on it, he wasn't sure if he meant or he was supposed to say that.
Alec buried his face in his hands and continued to sob in silence.
Remember, Alec, I will always love you no matter what.
Do you mean it, Dad?
Of course, I do.
