They couldn't cry.

That was a rule for all men.

Well, Alec was about to break the rule because after being humiliated from the girl, he was crawling into a little ball and rocking himself back and forth. Alec had never felt so embarrassing in all of his life. The girl's words just kept on ringing like an annoying alarm and it wouldn't stop. Well, at least until Alec would clock the thoughts out but it was going to be hard.

'Why? Why couldn't I just be born normal? Why couldn't my dad not do this to me?' Alec thought. The more he thought about it, the more he started to lose all control of himself. He then punched the stone wall of his room he called a cell. Pain sprung through his knuckles and Alec let out a small grunt. His knees were pulled to the floor and then the weight of his entire body clashed with it. Alec looked at the hand that he punched with, he then saw another hand joined with it. He looked up and saw Magnus on his knees and there were his precious gold-green eyes staring at him.

"What's wrong, cintaku?"

Magnus helped Alec, the two were still joined with their hands.

"How did you get in here?"

"I opened the door."

"But how did you get past Brother Zachariah?"

"He wasn't there."

"But-"

"Look, all that matters is that I'm here."

Magnus gestured to the bed and the two sat down.

"Magnus, I've been meaning to ask you-"

"Now that we've been through the calm before the storm, let's talk more."

"Yes, and I wanted to talk about the girl-"

"Oh, do you really want to talk about her? Especially what she did to you?"

"Magnus I'm getting a feeling that you and that girl have a-"

"Alexander, can you please stop-"

Alec lost himself again and snapped: "YOU AND THE GIRL HAVE A HISTORY, DON'T YOU?!"

The doors then opened and there stood Brother Zachariah and Malachi staring at him.

"Alexander Lightwood, who are you talking to?"

"I'm talking to Magnus."

"Magnus isn't here."

"No, he's right here!"

Alec pointed to Magnus' spot but then he didn't see his presence at all. Alec could've sworn that Magnus was standing right next to him. Alec looked back at Malachi and Brother Zachariah who both had confused faces.

"Alec, I think you need to get out for some fresh air," Malachi offered.

One step that Malachi took and Alec took a few steps back.

"No, leave me alone."

"Alec, remember, I am not here to hurt you. I'm here to help you get you back to-"

"That's crap to me!"

Malachi looked appalled when Alec mouthed off to him but Alec could care less of what he was feeling right now.

"You leave me with no choice."

Alec went back but he felt his back to the wall.

"Malachi, wait!" Brother Zachariah shrieked.

Alec looked back and Malachi with a needle that had a container of fluids inside. Alec jumped to the other side of the wall. Malachi fell and shattered the container and then Alec felt a hand grab him. Brother Zachariah and the two were running for their lives.

"Brother Zachariah, what are we doing?"

Brother Zachariah then pushed Alec to the front doors and Alec fell on his knees. Alec got up and looked behind to see Zachariah still standing.

"Go, Alec, get to the front gates before Malachi catches you! Go!"

"Wait but-"

"Just go!"

"BUT I CAN'T LEAVE WITHOUT MAGNUS!"

"I'll try to get him out of here and to you but you need to go!"

Alec turned around and started to run like he was in a running competition. After sprinting, he got to the front gates and opened them. Alec didn't have time to wonder why Malachi didn't close them in the first place. Alec heads out the door and started to run far away from it but then he stopped because he had no idea where he was going.

"Hey, you!"

Alec fixed his gaze to where the voice came from. He then saw a tall man with black hair, blue eyes, and fair skin. He sort of looked like him but a little older.

"Uh...can I help you?"

"Did Brother Zachariah send you here?"

"Y-Yes, why?"

"Come with me."

"Where are you taking me?"

"Somewhere safe."

"And where is-"

The man yanked Alec and started to drag him across the street.

"I swear this younger generation asks too many questions."

"Can I at least have your name?"

The man sighed and said: "William, William Carstairs-Herondale."
