"Let's go." Ben called to the group, acting brave for Bev. We all stayed close to our respective partners. My arm didn't hurt, the medication i'd been offered had yet to lose it's effect, and I had more in my backpack for when the time should come.
We were all currently stood in Neibolt house, staring at the well I saw Pennywise disappear down just 24 hours ago.
"If anything happens, I just wanna say," Richie rubbed the back of his neck. "I love you all. More than you'd all imagine. If anything happens to me, I want you all to be safe, I want you to leave me behind."
"Me too." Stan smiled sadly, everyone agreeing soon after.
"What if I can't leave you guys?" Eddie squeaked, a tear slipping as he stared at Richie. Richie dropped his baseball bat and grabbed the small boy, hugging him tightly.
"Spaghetti, you're gonna have too." He whispered. "Promise me you will. Promise me!" He stuck his pinky finger out, which Eddie reluctantly took in his own.
I reached my finger out to Bill, he stared down confused. He knew exactly what I meant. "You have to leave me behind."
"I can't make any promises." He shook his head, facing away completely.
"I need you to do this, Bill." I waited. He turned around, a look of pure sadness on his face. "I know you don't want to, but I need you to."
He looked ashamed as he took my pinky in his own, an almost inaudible "I promise," slipping from his pale pink lips, as he brought my hand up to plant a soft kiss on the back of it.
"Lets do this." Mike sighed, tying a rope to aid us in getting down the well, his gun hanging by his side.
"Anyone got a quarter?" Richie joked.
"I wouldn't make a wish in this thing." Eddie scoffed, he was first to climb down it, followed by Richie. Everyone was down, leaving Bill and I.
"You first." He put a steady hand on my shoulder, helping me down the rope, until Richie pulled me into the cavern we'd found.
Bill's feet came into view, a loud tear could be heard. It was the rope, and everyone fell silent, as if noise would pull the last strand of thread holding the rope, holding Bill's life.
Silence didn't work and the rope tore, and seeing red, I lurched my body forward as far as it could go whilst still being in the cavern, ignoring shouts from the gang. I grabbed Bill's rapidly falling body by the wrists, his body slammed off of the wall, knocking the air from his lungs. I held him as best I could, which was hard with my broken wrist. "It's okay, I've got you." I smiled, almost fooling myself. His ocean blue eyes showed fear in it's rawest form, he gulped, turning his head to see the seemingly endless abyss below him. "Don't look," I shook him by the wrists, squeezing harder than I already had been, his attention back on me. "Don't look, i've got you."
I began heaving the heavy load upwards. The gang backed up, after their help had been shown unneeded, apart from Richie, who sat with all his weight on my back, arms dangling loosely near my shoulders. He was probably the only thing keeping me in the cavern. With one last strained pull, now with Richie's assistance, I pulled him into the tunnel. He was scared, that much I could tell as he rubbed his crimson wrists. He peeped his head out for one last look at the hole he almost fell down.
"You guys okay?" Richie asked, everyone nodding.
"Let's go." Bev called, the gang following her as she crawled away.
"Th-thank you. But don't-t ever p-put your life in d-anger for me like th-that again." Bill breathed, pulling me in for a tight hug.
"Bill, you are my life." I pressed a light kiss to his neck. "Now let's go find our brothers."
