Cass
A/N: Less than a year has passed (It was October 1988 and now it's June 1989) but let's just pretend they're all a year older for the sake of the story, so now they're all 15 :):)
June, 1989
"One more day," Richie shivered. "One more day and we're done with that fucking filth-pit."
"It's just school." Eddie laughed.
"Just school? Just school! I'm disappointed, young one, I thought I taught you better than this." Richie shook his head.
"Y-yeah, but you forg-get, Eddie gets out of h-here and goes someplace w-w-worse. Home." Bill teased.
"Hey, instead of teasing Eddie because of his exceptionally gross mother, who wants to come to the palace tonight?" Stan asked, referencing to our town's local arcade.
"Me."
"Sure."
"Wouldn't miss it."
"I can't. Not tonight, sorry guys." I smiled sadly.
"Why not?" Eddie begged. "Please?"
"I would, but I don't think my mom will want me out past dark anymore. We have a curfew, and, ever since Teddy, she's trying to be 'super mom 3000'." I huffed. It was true, it was almost as if losing Teddy forced something to click in my mother and make her think she wasn't doing a good enough job, which was so untrue.
"You're 15, why can't you go out? Also, does she know Bill is going to be there?" Richie asked and in response, I shook my head.
"What difference does Bill make?" I asked.
"That boy would kill for you so I think a trip to the arcade past sunset isn't so bad." Richie scoffed.
"I'll ask." Bill smiled, wrapping his arms around me as I leaned in, breathing in his heavenly scent. "She l-likes me."
"Well, tally-ho old friends, i'm going home to collect all of the quarters from under the couch cushions." Eddie laughed, mounting his bike and riding away.
"Yeah, see you guys later! Slut-face," Richie gestured to me.
"Watch it." Bill warned.
"Snot face." Richie tutted, giving an exaggerated eye roll. "You better be there."
"I will, now fuck off." I laughed, giving him a slap up the back of his head and then using Bill as a human shield. Luckily, he only followed Eddie on his bike, but i'd be sure to get a punch from him later.
"See you guys later." Stan smiled and began to ride his bike, Mike following closely behind.
"L-let's get home and a-ask your mom." Bill said, mounting his bike and riding with me to the left of him. He looked across to me, his hair blowing over his face with the wind. He smiled slightly, reaching his left hand from his handle bar over to the space between us, I did the same with my right hand. That was something we'd started doing, holding hands whilst we rode our bikes.
Eventually, we reached my house as we dumped our bikes on the lawn, never letting go of each others hands. "Mom?" I pushed on the wood of the door, and to my surprise, it opened with little force. "Mom?" I called again, a terrible feeling had settled deep in my stomach.
"Cass." I heard, but it wasn't my mother's voice, it was my brothers.
"Holy shit." I whispered, breathing in sharply as my grip on Bill's hand tightened.
"Language." My mother came from the other room in an apron, wiping her hands on a dishcloth.
"S-sorry, I erm, I didn't know you were here." I stuttered.
