I was sitting on the couch, playing Gears of War: Judgment, Overrun. Cussing my head off as a grenade just killed me, I flipped off the TV and yelled. "YOU COCK SUCKER!"
I threw my controller down on the couch and stormed off into the kitchen where my Mom was washing dishes. She shakes her head and sighs as I angrily grabbed a glass and poured myself some iced tea. She didn't say a word as she continued to do what she was doing.
I sat down at the table and sighed. "Mom?" I said, cooling down from my rage.
"Yes, Hannah?"
"Can we talk? Please?" I begged, placing my glass down on the table.
"About what?" She asked, keeping her attention on the dishes.
"I want to know about my Dad..." I mumbled, looking at her. She stopped for a second before she continued to wash.
"Not now-"
"Then when? When are you ever going to tell me about him? I'm nineteen mom! I'm not a child anymore!" I growled, I'm sick and tired of her ignoring me about this situation.
"I guess you're right," she sighed, rinsing her hands off and drying them. She turned around and joined me at the table. "What do you want to know?"
"Everything."
"Everything?" I nod, "Alright. Well, your father and I were married, before we had you. We would always get in fights, he wasn't making a living, he would just drink his life away, spending all our money. When we found out we were having you... He only stayed for 2 years... Then he left and never came back." She explained.
"What was his name?" I asked.
"Geoff, Geoff Ramsey." She sighed.
"Do you know where he's at?" I asked, hoping she would.
Mom shook her head. "The last I heard from him was he moved to Austin Texas." She rubbed her face.
"I gotta go, I'll be back." I said, quickly standing up and leaving the house.
I pulled my phone out, putting my earbuds in and played 'The Monster' by Eminem. I sighed and texted my best friend Ash.
Me: Hey, I'm coming by, see you in a few minutes.
Ash: Alright, Meet you outside.
Ashlynn has been my best friend for years, as long as I can remember actually, whenever I unexpectedly tell her I was coming over, she always knew I needed to let off some steam and get out of the house. She's always been there for me and I am very grateful.
I walk down her street and pull out my earbuds, I see her waiting by the curb, waving. "Aye, Mom shuttin' you down again?" She asked once I was beside her and we started walking away from her house.
"Surprisingly, No... She actually talked to me about him..." I said, playing with my earbuds.
"Seriously?" She asked, just as shocked as I am. I nod slowly, "What's his name?" She asked.
"Geoff, he left when I was 2 and moved to Austin Texas." I sighed.
"Wow... So now that you know, what are you going to do?" She looked at me, then down at her feet.
I shrug slightly, "I think I'm gonna plan a trip..." I finally say, looking up from my hands. "Do you want to come with me?" I asked.
"You're not going where I think you're going are you?" She asked, I stayed silent. That's exactly where I'm going. No ones going to stop me either. "Sure, why not?" She smiled at me.
"Sweet, thanks sis." I smiled, wrapping my arm around her shoulders loosely.
-Later that Day-
I sigh, packing my backpack and small suit case full of clothes and other stuff I may need. I carried my things down the stairs and set them by the front door.
"Hey Mom? Where are you?" I asked, looking in the kitchen.
"In the living room." She replied, I bit my lip as I walk in the living room and sit down on the recliner. "You ok?" She asked.
I simply shook my head. "I'm going to go find my dad." I said bluntly.
"You're what?" She asked, her eyes widening.
"I'm leaving, I wanna go meet my father and Ashlynn is going with me."
"So, how are you going to pay for tickets? Gas? Food? Somewhere to stay? Hmm?" Mom asked.
"My college funds." I said, I had a lot of money saved up and I never wanted to go to college, I just graduated 6months ago. "I don't want to go to college." I simply shrug.
"What!? You-"
"Mom, I'm leaving, I'm old enough to leave if I want to. I'm sorry, I'll contact you when my flight lands, I already have a room booked and tickets printed out. It leaves in a hour." I sighed.
"So that's it? You're just up and leaving?" I nod. "Wow..." Was all she could say next.
"I love you, but I gotta do this. I'll come and visit when I can. Goodbye mom." I stood up and kissed her cheek. I hugged her and then walked to the front door. Collecting my things and walking out of the house.
I walked to Ashlynn's house and we loaded her stuff up with mine in her Mother's car. Her mom drove us to the airport and we made it just in time.
We quickly got dismissed from the Security stop and we headed to our terminal.
We handed the Woman our tickets and boarded the plane, my mind started to race once we sat down and buckled up and about to take off.
'What if he rejects you?'
'Does he even remember me?'
'Does he even think about me?'
'Will he accept me and take me in?'
'Will we get along?'
I whimpered as I closed my eyes, Ash was already asleep and we have been on the plane for twenty minutes. I just really hope he doesn't reject me and I came all this way for nothing...
