Once Was, Never Again

Chapter 2: He is here...

We landed and got in our room. I selected my bed and Ash took the other one. It was late in Austin, 12am. I was exhausted from the flight and walking so much. I just wanted to sleep, but I couldn't as I kept thinking of many things that much happen when I meet my father.

I actually don't even know if he's here anymore, it was just spur of the moment idea and I took it. I texted my mom that we landed and we were safe.

"Hey, wanna watch a movie? HBO is free in this place." Ash asked.

"Uhh, sure why not, can't sleep. Might as well do something." I sighed and curled up in the covers and searched the HBO channels and the rental movies. "How bout we watch 'Mother's Night Out' ?" I asked. "It has April in it, from Grey's Anatomy."

"Sure, she's weird though..." Ash said getting up.

"I agree." I said selecting the movie. Ash climbed in bed beside me.

"Movie buddies." She smiled innocently at me. I rolled my eyes and smiled as we cuddled like sisters.

Next thing I knew, my eyes felt heavy and I was nodding in and out. I tried to stay away, but once I heard Ash snore quietly I crashed out myself.

-Next Day-

I woke up with a groan, Ash's arms were wrapped tightly around my waist. I rolled my eyes and wiggled out of her grip. I shuffled to the bathroom and turned on the shower, I slipped out of my clothes and stepped in.

I stood under the hot running water and groaned.

"Morning..." Ash said, walking in.

"Do you not seriously hear the running water?" I asked, smiling slightly.

"The shower curtain is shut, I'm not here to look at your lady parts. I just have to piss, then I'll be outta here." Ash snapped.

"Woah! Chill, I don't mind. I'd do the same thing to you. We're sisters, remember?" Ash only hummed and flushed the toilet and left the room. I rolled my eyes and continued my shower.

Twenty minutes later I got out and dressed in shorts and a Gears of War 2 shirt and my hot pink and black converse shoes.

I walked out and Ash looked at me. "You do realize that doesn't match right?" She said, raising her eyebrow.

"Do you think I give a fuck right now?" I glared at her, I wanted to wear my Gears shirt and Pink Converse. Why not stand out a little?

"No, I don't." Ash smiled.

"Good, cause you're right. I don't. Why don't we go find a coffee shop or somewhere to eat? We overslept the hours that the hotel serves breakfast." I sighed, pointing at the time that now says 1pm.

Ash gave a nod and she got up. "Let me change really quick." She said, slipping into the bathroom.

Ash soon came out and she was wearing a Minecraft shirt with a Enderman on it, jeans and her new converse. I rolled my eyes and we headed out.

When we were at the receptionists desk we asked him where the nearest coffee shop was. He gave us directions and we thanked him. Then went on our way.

Once we were at the coffee shop I groaned. "This was the worst day to wear a black shirt..." I sighed, fanning myself with my hand as we walked in the small place.

"I agree.." ash said, doing the same thing. We walked up to the counter and smiled as we sat on the bar stools provided.

"Hello ladies! What can I get you?" A young. perky man asked.

"I would like a coffee, 7 sugars and 6 creamer thingy please." I smiled.

He nodded and smiled and looked at Ashlynn.

"Ill have the same please." She smile at the man and he nodded and went straight to making it.

"So, what are we gonna do about finding your father?" Ash asked. Sighing.

"I don't know, all I know is that he lives here and his name is Geoff Ramsey... That's all I know." I shrug, sighing as the young boy came back to us with a kind smile.

"I only heard some of the conversation and I don't mean to listen in or intrude on your conversation, ladies. But I think I know a Geoff Ramsey, the only Geoff Ramsey that lives in all of the Texas state." I turn around and see a man, he looks like he's in his early or mid-thirties.

He smiles as he pushes his glasses up on his nose and scratches his beard.

"Really?" I smiled, he nodded and pointed to the bar stool next to me. I nod and he takes the seat. "Do you know where he is?" I asked, hopeful.

"Actually, I work with him. But may I ask why you are looking for him?" He asked, then telling the waiter to get him a piece of pie.

"Well, I'm his daughter... I just found out what state he was in and his name... My mom kept me from knowing anything about him. I was finally old enough to find out even his name..." I sighed, taking a drink of my coffee.

"How old are you? And hello miss." The man said to Ash, she waved and smiled.

"I'm nineteen, I'm gonna be twenty in six-months." I sighed.

"I'm sorry, where are my manners? I'm Jack, Jack Pattillo." He smiled and extended his hand out to me.

I shook it and smiled back. "I'm Hannah Ramsey, and this is my best friend Ashlynn, we grew up together." I pointed to her and she waved at Jack again, continuing to drink her coffee.

"So it's actually been that long huh? I've known your dad for years, ever since he moved down here. Now that I look at you, you do have some of your dads looks." Jack smiled at me. I smiled and finished my coffee. "How bout you come down with me to your dad's work? I was taking a late lunch, would you want to see him today?" He asked.

I bit my lip nervously and nodded. "Yea, please? Ash can come too right?" I asked. He nodded and finished his piece of pie.

"Yep. I'm gonna head out, Do you guys need a ride?" Jack asked, paying his bill.

"Yea please, we don't have a car... we just kinda flew here spur at the moment yesterday.." I blushed slightly, Ash paid our bill and stood up, me following suit.

"No problem, lets go." He smiled and lead the way to his car.

I was shaking with excitement but worry at the same time, I was finally gonna meet the man I have lost touch with.
