Chapter 21: Alice and Grace

        As I run I ask myself what I would do if I never saw Lamar again. The answers I come up with make it seem like I've already been away from him for years.

        I can't bear it any longer, I need to know where he is, I need him by my side. I stop running and turn around, I don't see him, I can't have run too far away, it's only been a few minutes. Suddenly, I feel the need to yell for him, yell his name and see if he replies, but that's the dumbest idea ever.

        I stand there waiting for a few moments, expecting him to come running for me, but he doesn't. I turn back around and thoughts of loosing him, never seeing him again, I can't take this torture any longer. I turn again and run back to him, he better still be there.

        Then, I hear people yelling, I stop and look around, I don't see anyone, but I can hear them, their footsteps coming from behind me. I turn around, I see Alice and Grace running towards me.

        "Turn around!" Alice yells.

        Suddenly, I hear someone behind me panting, the voice sounds familiar.

        "Stop!" I yell. I turn around to see Lamar. "Storm!" I throw my arms around him. "What happened?"

        "We don't have time for that, we have to deal with this war." Lamar says, his hands on my waist. "And the looks we're getting right now."

        I pull away from him and look at Alice and Grace. "Yeah, we're right here." Grace says, pointing from her to Alice.

        "I'm aware of that." I say, my voice is low. "We can work together if you two are willing to-"

        "We're Dauntless, we'll do whatever you tell us to do as long as you keep us alive."Grace says.

        "Well, you're obviously the leader of the two of you." I say.

        "Okay- I'm right here." Alice says, pointing at herself.

       "So what's the plan?" Grace crosses her arms.

        I look at Lamar. "We need to get into Erudite head quarters and shut down the simulation system." He says.

        We all nod. "First of all," I say to Alice and Grace. "How are you two aware?"

        "They never injected us." Grace says. "We didn't believe them when they told us it was a tracker, so we decisded sneak back to the dorms before anyone noticed."

        "Yeah, it may have been her plan but I still did my part." Alice glares at Grace.

        "Whatever, I'm still the one who came up with it so you're pretty much just my little minion who does things for me." Grace's leans against a house next to her.

        "No I'm not! I can come up with things."

        "Like what?"

        "Hmm." Alice says.

        "We don't have time for this." I say. "We need to get into Erudite head quarters."

        I step forward and begin to walk towards Alice and Grace, I hear Lamar following me after a few seconds. "Jade." He says.

        "What?" I ask.

        "Watch out!" He yells. What? What's going on?

        Then, something grabs me, holding me in the air, I can't see anything but darkness. I scream.

        "Let go of her." I hear Lamar say.
