Jason never thought that there would come a day when he would officially become a member of America's deadliest gang. But alas, the world is a strange place.
After almost three weeks after Max had brought Jason to Gray Dawn, Jason made it to the day of his test.
He would have to defeat Max in hand to hand combat, drill bullets in fifteen mannequins in under one minute, show that he is healthy enough by running around the huge training room twice and at last, he would get his official position and code name.
To say that he was nervous, was a huge understatement. It had only been a few weeks since he had started training, and although he trained almost everyday, all the time, he still wasn't that good at some things.
"It's fine. Don't worry. Logan's not that strict. He would let a few mistakes go unnoticed." Nathan reassured and Jason looked to his left, at Logan who was typing away furiously on his phone.
Jason gulped, "Sure."
Nathan laughed and patted him on the back and walked over to talk to Tyler, who, as usual, was on his laptop.
"Nervous?" A familiar voice asked and Jason felt instantly relaxed.
"A little bit." He admitted and Noah sat next to him.
"It's okay to be nervous. It means that you care about this. But don't put yourself in too much pressure. It's going to be fine. I trained you after all." He smirked his familiar crooked smile and Jason rolled his eyes, laughing.
"Alright. Jason! Max! In the ring." Logan called out and Jason hurriedly got up, exhaling loudly and stretching his arms.
On his other side, Max stood, wearing only his pants, just like Jason and nodded,
"Good luck. Don't worry about this too much. This is just to see where you stand and how much you have to work and on which aspects."
Jason smiled a little and they positioned themselves inside the black circle, hands in a combat position.
"Begin." Logan's deep voice echoed in the training room and Jason felt everyone's eyes on them as they circled each other, never looking away.
Jason thought of everything they had taught him, and prayed that he would remember as Max landed the first punch.
Jason was in a daze for maybe a half of a second before he dodged Max's second punch, flicked his leg out and kicked him in the ribs.
He could see the pain in Max's eyes and grimaced internally.
Why do I feel bad about doing this?
Max and Jason circled each other again, now one of them sporting a black eye and one probably bruised on the stomach.
Another punch was thrown, this time by Jason, and Max easily dodged it. In the same second, Jason kicked again, his leg hitting the skin of Max's ribs again.
He groaned in pain, and punched Jason again, this time on his jaw.
And at that moment, Jason found out that his jaw was his weak point.
He clutched his throbbing face and Max leaned down a little, concern edged on his face. But Jason smirked and took Max by his feet, flipping him over and slamming him on the mat.
He groaned, "That's cheating."
"All's fair in love and game." He panted and Noah, Nathan and Hayden clapped, while Tyler looked around sleepily and Logan frowned, analysing Jason's techniques.
