I looked at the ceiling all day, feeling weary and bored. Rachel made me some lunch and brought it in, but I wasn't very hungry. Allegra came and gave me some more pills to keep my fever down. Apparently I was getting better, but would still be sick for a couple of days yet. I didn't have much to do. There weren't many books in the house and most people had other things to do than sit and talk to me. I napped a bit and had a long dreamless sleep at about five o'clock.
"Hey there sleepy head, dinner's ready." I looked at Oscar's perfect face. Why was I even doing this anymore? I leaned forward and gave him a long kiss. Once I pulled back, he had a shocked look on his face. I couldn't do this anymore. I looked at the doctors bag next to me, picked it up and put it on my lap.
"I'll go get your dinner." He said as he left the room with a suspicious look on his face. I rummaged through the bag, and found an empty syringe. I had to do it. I picked it up, held it to my neck, and injected the air into my main artery. I felt it run up my neck and it burnt my head. I saw Oscar walk in with a tray of food in his hands. He dropped it as he saw and ran over to me.
"Bethany! BETHANY!" He screamed at me, but I could barely hear him. I was going under. I saw the light.
