"Beth." Oscar said softly. My eyes opened and I saw his face. The one I was so happy to see. My eyes were sore from crying in my sleep. I was still in the sick room.
"Oscar!" I wrapped my arms around his neck and hugged him tightly, "I thought you were gone!" I sobbed into his shoulder, never wanting to let go.
"Beth? Are you all right?" He tried leaning back, but I kept a hold of him, not letting him go. I probably seemed clingy, but I didn't care.
"I thought you were gone." I sighed, tears still wet around my eyes.
"What happened?" He said as he sat up while I was still lying down. I explained it all. All of the small details like the coffee beans and the masquerade masks.
"Wow, that's quite a hallucination..." He stopped, then continued, "Was I handsome?" He said with a smirk, trying to lighten the mood. I hit him playfully on the arm and we laughed.
"So what do you think the burn means.' I said as I looked at the hand that now had no burn on it.
"I've no idea... maybe one of the girls would know." I thought about it and what it might mean. Oscar yet again grabbed the thermometer out of the little bag and stuck it in my mouth. I felt slow and drowsy, like someone just gave me a depressant. It beeped like usual and he said something unintelligible.
"Well, there's good news and bad news. Which one first?"
"Bad news."
"Well, you're not getting much better and it looks like you're still gonna be in bed for a while."
"And the good news?"
"The good news is that for one, Autumn returned while you were asleep, but she's poisoned like you, and the other good news is that güvenli hafta is coming up." He said that last bit as if I would get it immediately.
"And what is güvenli hafta?"
"Güvenli hafta is one week where it is safe for us to go outside, where all the monsters are gone and it opens a chance for us to find memories safely."
"Sounds good. When is it?"
"It's in nine days time."
"Hopefully I'm well by then..." I said, meaning it.
"I'm sure you will be." Oscar said smiling. "But in the mean time, get some rest." He said as he got up to leave.
"Will do!" I said military style, complete with a salute. He chuckled as he walked out and I quickly fell asleep.
