I didn't know what to say. I was confused. I remember seeing her go down the hatch. I remember it. Oscar came over to me and gripped his hands on my shoulders. His face leaning into mine.
"What happened?" he said whispering so quietly, even I struggled to hear it.
"I went to the hatch last night, saw some guy, he took my crystal, I followed him to his house, stayed the night, had breakfast, got my crystal back and returned" I said, telling him the short version.
"They fed you?"
"Yeah, why?" he cussed under his breath.
"Get her to the sick bay, NOW!" Oscar shouted over his shoulder at Lili.
"Have they...?" Lili asked.
"Yes..." When Lili got her answer she suddenly dragged me by the arm to the sick bay. She sat me on the little bed and filled a glass with water. She then rushed out of the room and quickly came back with a big jar of salt. She scoped large amounts of salt into the glass and stirred it. It dissolved and she got a bucket from under the bed.
"Drink it."
"But won't I throw up?"
"That's the point Bethany!" She shoved the bucket into my hands and I picked up the glass.
"Bottoms up!" Lili urged. I drank it, and as soon as I did, I wish I hadn't, my stomach gargled and twisted up. I felt it coming up. The food from breakfast rose up my oesophagus and exited out through my mouth. The stomach acid burnt the inside of my mouth and tongue. Lili patted my back encouragingly as I still leaned over the bucket. She took away the bucket and gave me some wipes for my mouth. I wiped my burnt lips and shuddered suddenly feeling cold. Lili saw me shiver and put a blanket around my shoulders. I suddenly started shaking violently, unable to control the shaking. Lili shouted for Oscar to come and he was in the room within seconds.
"Oh gosh, she must've already digested some." Oscar said solemnly. "Lie her down and rug her up for now, I need to grab some stuff and I'll be back." Oscar shot out of the door while Lili lay me down on the bed, giving me another book.
"It's ok, everything will be fine." Lili comforted, but still had a look of doubt on her face. Oscar came back and put a small doctor's bag down on the desk next to the bed. He rummaged through it for a couple of seconds, then pulled out a small white stick. I didn't realise what it was until it got closer. It was a thermometer. Wait a minute, I wasn't sick, I felt fine.
"Is that necessary? I feel fine." I said protesting against the thermometer. Oscar sighed.
"Beth, how do you put this delicately. You've been poisoned." I was confused at first, but then I realised they were pretty keen on me eating breakfast.
"Will I die?" I said, expecting the worse just in case I did.
"I don't think so," he said as he stuck the thermometer into my mouth, "it really depends how strong the poison was, and by the look of your symptoms, it must've been medium strength. But saying that, you will still become sick for sure. See, you've already got a temperature" He said pulling out the thermometer. "Rest up, try not to use the blankets. You're already thirty nine degrees, and I don't want you to get any hotter." I giggled at his choice of words and he just gave me an unimpressed look.
"Your sooooo mature." He said dragging out the 'so'. He packed away his thermometer and got out some tablets. Lili got another glass of water and Oscar gave me the pill. I downed it and spoke,
"What did that do?"
"That will hopefully slowly cool down your body to thirty seven degrees."
"Ok." I said feeling tired. He left and I lay there on the bed wondering what had become of Autumn.
