It had all started about a week ago.
Alan had been on a mission on the Moon, saving a family who's ship had crashed there. He'd been bouncing back to Thunderbird 3 when he'd tripped over the edge of a small crater and sprained his ankle.
Thankfully, everyone had been too distracted by the impending meteor strike to notice.
It continued to hurt for months, and gradually his ankle got worse and worse until he couldn't put his weight on it without wincing.
But he tried to hide it.
Not because it didn't bother him, because like hell it did, but because he didn't want to be left out of missions.
Alan had always felt like an outcast from the rest of his family- he was the youngest so whilst he'd been away at school on the mainland the rest of his family had been busy getting IR started. Kayo was the only one who remotely understood- she'd been at school most of that time too and she wasn't strictly related to them so she no doubt felt out of place too. For many years after they left school, he and Kayo were both lumped with unimportant missions and neither of them had liked it much. No, he didn't want to go back to supply runs and fixing TVs. It was best if nobody found out about his ankle.
And he'd done a surprisingly good job of concealing the pain he was in.
Until he collapsed.
He, Kayo and Virgil had been helping with a cave collapse on Mars (not the one in Life Signs, I'm just running low on ideas.) possibly linked to the Chaos Crew. They were shuffling through an incredibly narrow tunnel with Virgil in front of him and Kayo behind him when his ankle started throbbing. He instinctively reached down to try and stop the pain when (forgetting he was in a tunnel) he banged his head against the stone wall. Head spinning and vision blurring, all he heard was a sea of voices before he blacked out.

When he awoke, it took him a while to register where he was. As he came to his senses Alan realised he was in Thunderbird 3's Medical Bay in the Cargo Hold.
"About time you woke up."
He spun around. Virgil was sat beside him.
"What happened?"
"You sprained your ankle and knocked yourself out- even with your helmet, which is quite impressive by the way- and left us to deal with the cave collapse!" Seeing Alan's worried expression, he continued. "Don't worry, it's all taken care of. We managed to diffuse the bomb planted futher up the tunnel- problem solved, zero casualties and this entire area has been prevented from being turned into a massive sinkhole! All in a days work."
Alan nodded, though he still felt guilty. "Thanks for getting me back here."
Virgil snorted. "Don't look at me, that was all Kayo's work. She carried you back here on her own, rescued a team of scientists on the way back to the cave and saved the planet from the Chaos Crew by the time you woke up!"
Alan shook his head. Kayo never failed to amaze him. "Where is she now?"
"Flying Thunderbird 3. As if she hadn't done enough today! Speaking of which, I'd better go see how she's doing. Call me if you need anything."
Alan nodded as Virgil left. He lay back on the hospital bed and closed his eyes, but a stern voice jolted him from his stupor.
"So, when were you planning on telling us about this ankle of yours?"
He sat up quickly. Grandma's hologram (ha, betcha thought it would be Kayo) was watching him, arms folded.
"Grandma! How did you...."
"Virgil sent me the X-Ray results. Ligament strain shows you'd been hiding your injury for months. Why didn't you tell us? We could've helped."
Alan hung his head meekly. "I know, I'm sorry. I just... didn't want to go back to supply runs and being babysat again."
Grandma's expressiom softened. "Tell you what. We'll take a look at your ankle when you get back. You might be stuck at home for a week or two, but you'll be back on your feet in no time!"
Alan smiled slightly. "Thanks, Grandma."
Meanwhile, Kayo was watching the entire interration on the monitor. She grinned proudly. She'd noticed Alan's injury a while back, but knew he wouldn't tell anyone out of choice.
Adding a tiny sedative to his oxygen supply hadn't been such a bad idea after all...

Woohoo, I'm writing again! I tried my best not to overload the Kalan, but you know me...
This is probably one of the better things I've written recently.
Oh yeah, if any of you like Doctor Who, you might want to read my Doctor Who fanfic! I've got a lot planned for it!
Adios amigos!
