~*~Only a day had passed since Dean first encountered the First Blade, killing Magnus and accidently hurting Ashleigh in the process. Dean had been acting increasingly strange and distant, towards her especially. It was like he had become obsessed with finding Abaddon and getting the First Blade back from Crowley.

Ashleigh stepped into the library, her arm resting in a sling, her other hand held her phone, an article pulled up. She lifted her head to see both brothers going through articles on their computers. Dean must have talked Sam into helping him search. She let out a quiet sigh and walked over, closing Dean's laptop, earning a glare from the man "What the hell, Ash?" He grumbled.
She rolled her eyes lightly "I found an article on a family that was murdered.."
"Think it was Abaddon?" Dean interrupted quickly.
"Doubtful... I'm thinking that it was the demon that killed my family. Maybe we could take a break from this and-" she stopped when Dean held his hand up.
"Ash, I know you want to find the demon that killed your family, but Abaddon takes priority right now." Dean said sternly, reopening his laptop as Sam gave her an apologetic look.
Ashleigh clenched her fists slightly, stuffing her phone into her pocket before she headed to her room.
Sam turned to his brother "Dean, maybe she's right, let's take a break from Abaddon. Something will pop up and when it does, we'll act on it."
Dean glanced at his brother, his eyes sharp "It's not up for discussion, Sam."
Dean lifted his head when he saw the brunette woman step out of the hallway with her duffle bag on her shoulder "Where do you think you're going?"
She stopped, halfway up the stairs to leave, turning to face him with an irritated look in her eyes "I'm going to kill this damn thing. With or without you."
Sam started to stand, opening his mouth to protest before Dean placed his hand on his shoulder to stop him, his glare never leaving the woman "If she wants to go, let her." Maybe it'd be better for her to get as far from him as possible, and the only way to do that was to make her angry at him. For him to distance himself from her and try to ignore the feelings he got around her. The feelings he felt when she kissed him. Because he knew, just because you love someone, doesn't mean you need to stick around and ruin their life. It was better for her to leave.
Ashleigh shook her head slightly, pulling her keys from her bag and saluting Sam "See ya Sammy, I'll check in soon." She said with an annoyed tone as she headed up the rest of the stairs and opened the bunker door, disappearing from sight.
Sam glared towards his brother "Why'd you just let her go like that?" He questioned.
Dean simply shook his head as he scrolled through countless articles on his computer "We have work to do."
~*~
A few days later, Sam got a call from Ashleigh. He quickly answered the call and sighed in relief "Thank god... How'd the hunt go?"
"Trail's cold. It was definitely the same demon though." Ashleigh sighed "How's he doing?" She asked quietly as she leaned back in the driver's seat of her chevelle.
Sam glanced behind him to see Dean at his computer yet again "Still the same over here." He whispered before turning his head forward "So are you coming back?"
"Duh. It takes more than a little sprain and some yelling for him to scare me away. I just needed some time to cool off." She smiled lightly before she saw a truck pull up behind her on the side of the road "Hang on Sammy, looks like I have some company." She said, grabbing her pistol from her waistband, hiding it just out of sight as the lights from the truck behind her kept her from seeing just what was going on.
Sam instantly grew worried, drawing the attention of the eldest brother "Ash? Who is it? Are you okay?" He asked worriedly, trying to get her to answer him on the other end. It was taking her far too long to reply. Dean stood up from his seat and headed over, worry clear in his eyes.
"Sam!" She screamed fearfully just before the line went dead.
"Ash?? Ashleigh!?" Sam called out into the phone before he glanced at Dean who was already rushing for his keys "What's her most recent location?" He asked in a hurry as he raced out of the bunker, Sam following closely behind "Lavonia, Georgia"
~*~
After hours of driving, following the last known location on her phone, they soon saw her black chevelle parked on the side of the empty highway. Dean pulled the Impala up behind it, putting it in park before he hurried out of the driver's seat and jogged forward. Her car door was open, he didn't have to look far before he was met with the sight of blood, her gun and phone laying on the pavement. "Dammit!" He yelled, slamming his fists against the top of the car. He should have never let her go on her own. He thought if she left, she'd be safer. He was wrong.
Sam stepped over, taking a look at the scene before he turned his attention towards his brother, tears in his eyes but anger plastered on his facial features "You did this.." he muttered before shoving Dean by the shoulders "If we had just gone with her, none of this would have happened!" He yelled angrily.
"Sam.." Dean started, pain clear in his voice.
Sam shoved him again "If we had been here, she wouldn't have gotten hurt! She'd still be alive!!" He yelled, his voice starting to tremble as he spoke. There was too much blood. Even though there was no body, he was sure it'd turn up soon. The thought of finding her body out in some field made his heart sink.
Dean felt tears pricking at his eyelids as he turned away. "I'm sorry, Sammy.. I'm so damn sorry.." he said shakily, his eyes staring at the dried blood coating her seat, the rips in the interior leather seats and the red stained pavement. Now he'd never see her smile again, or hear her laugh. He'd never see her bite at the inside of her cheek when she was clearly anxious. He'd never see her playful little smirks when she was teasing him, trying to irritate him, only to pout when he would snap. He'd never be able to talk to her about what happened back at Magnus', how their kiss made him feel. She was gone and he would never see the sparkle in her eyes again. This was his fault.
