*Third Person POV*
Rias led her peerage into the forest, trudging through the snow and slush. A fresh snow coated everything, the sun reflecting off the white powder that covered the world.
The world seemed bright and welcoming, as if mother nature had opened her arms for the group of devils. They felt the chills go down their spines, as light breezes flew past them.
Rias walked forward, wrapped tight in a scarf and her blue eyes full of determination. She knew the people they were searching for would lead her to Y/n and she would find them. No matter what.
In the shadows of the trees, where none could see through the darkness, figures ran by the trees. These figures were completely silent, somehow running atop the snow without crushing it. They moved quicker than any person could, not drawing any attention from the devils they were following.
Rias stopped, feeling something that was off in the world around her. Her peerage came to a stop behind her, and Akeno walked up next to her.
"Rias?" She asked, "What's going on?"
Rias held up a hand, and Akeno went silent as everyone drew their weapons. Silence permeated the small clearing, as everyone looked around.
"Whoever you are," Rias called, "Come out now!"
There was no response, as a light breeze blew through and shook the branches of a nearby tree. Snow fell to the ground, making small crunching sounds as it landed.
Kiba leapt into the air, doing a back flip as he avoided a small knife that was launching at his head. A second knife followed it, forcing Koneko to duck down to avoid it. They all got tighter together, all looking towards the forest and preparing magic and weapons.
"W-where are they?" Asia asked, shaking in terror hidden at the center of the group.
"The shadows," Xenovia said, "They could be all around us."
A response came from the forest, in the form of a tree flying towards the group. Kiba cut it in half, and was forced to dodge another blade that flew past his head.
They heard steps coming towards them quickly, and turned to see the female shadow leaping at Koneko, who blocked with her arms crossed. The two began to fight, trading blows and blocks. They seemed to be evenly matched, with every blow causing a small shock wave between them.
Kiba and Xenovia ran to Koneko's aid, but they were stopped by the male shadow appearing in a flash of smoke in front of them. He held two knifes, and spun them around so he was holding them in a reverse grip. He blocked both blades with his knives, throwing Kiba and Xenovia back a few feet.
The male shadow pulled out a knife and threw it at Rias and Akeno, forcing them to split apart. This gave the female shadow enough time to throw Koneko at Akeno, and run up to Rias. She pulled out a gun, and aimed it at her head.
"Shouldn't have followed us, princess."
She prepared to pull the trigger, and gently squeezed.
Birds flew from the trees, as a gunshot was heard throughout the forest.
