Chapter 24

"He's currently in the ICU. Your son inflicted some great damage upon Haron." Sarada heard someone with a scratchy voice say, as the steady beeping of an annoying machine made her open her eyes abruptly.
"Is he under arrest?" Sasuke asked the man,
while Sarada was still confused and dazed from the bright lights. It wasn't until she looked upward at the masonry ceiling that she recognized where she was. It was then when she realized that her parents were in the hallway, a few yards away.

"No, we want to ask him a few more questions, that's all."
"He's answered enough questions. What other questions could you possibly have? My daughter was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend!" She heard her father angrily yell, "Sasuke, Sweetie, you're gonna wake her." Sakura said, before she walked into her daughter's private room. Smiling slightly she peered down at her and asked, "Hi sleeping beauty, how are you feeling?" Grabbing the railing, and her mother's hand in order to sit up in bed, she felt a strange excruciating pain in her lower back and abdomen. Looking to the side of her, she noticed a sleeping Boruto.

A small smile came to her lips as she noticed the way his hand sat against her leg.
"Mom, I'm so confused." She said while feeling tears start to weld in her eyes from the intense body aches. "What do you want to know?"
"I-I don't know. I just remember him being on top of me, and then everything went black. Now I'm sore, a-and my stomach really hurts."
She wasn't prepared for what was about to follow, as she watched her mother's emerald eyes start to tear up. "Sarada, you were assaulted." She scrunched her eyebrows in confusion.

"What? N-no." She cupped her chin in her hand, and spoke to her in a soft tone. "You were. Haron assaulted you and Boruto got there before he could do any more damage. We think he was planning to kidnap you."
"I'm so sorry, Mom." Her soft fingers wiped her tears away, "Don't be sorry, I get why you didn't tell me about the abuse, and it's okay. I'm just glad that you are here right now. You're a survivor, Sarada."
Sakura kissed her forehead, while Sarada felt the pain increase. "Where's Dad?" She no longer heard his angry voice, from outside the door. "I'll go get him." She nodded, before noticing Bolt's thumb caressing the back of her hand. "Hime?" He said softly, making her make eye contact with him.

When they stared into each other's, their tears fell in unison. "I'm so sorry." He said while looking deep into her onyx eyes. "If I had gotten there just a few minutes earlier you wouldn't be here right now. Haron wouldn't of done the things he did, Sarada, I'm so sorry." Sarada shook her head, and cupped his handsome face in her hands. "B-Boruto, don't blame yourself, if anything it's my fault. I let him in my dorm because he was hurt, and I just led him on-" 
"Sarada. This is in no way your fault. You are a compassionate person, and he took advantage of that. This isn't your fault." He said, and she tried to convince herself to believe him, only she couldn't.

"What did you do to him?" She asked, while noticing his dominant hand was wrapped in a bandage, and a brace, while his right hand was severely bruised. Instead of answering her, he asked her, "How are you feeling?" The room grew silent after he asked that, and he watched as she struggled to put a smile on her face. Though she wanted to lie, and tell him that she felt fine, she couldn't bring herself to do it. She was so tired of lying to the people who cared about her. "I feel so empty, Boruto." She said without making eye contact with him.

"Like I'm so close to breaking. I don't think I can handle anything else." He kissed her hand and asked, "What can I do to help you?"
"I-I don't know. That's what really scares me."
Pulling her into a hug, he said, "Maybe if I hug you tight enough I'll put all the broken pieces together." She laughed a little, but quickly stopped as the cramping in her stomach became sharp pains. "I wish that's how that worked."
