I miss the stage. I miss everything about it. Standing there, spotlight on you and you're blind. You cannot see beyond the lights and you can feel your pulse racing and your temperature rising. It is the best feeling in the world. Knowing that there are people out there, beyond the lights, watching, smiling, captivated. Feeling everything, you're feeling, following every line, every emotion. Then it is your moment, your song, and you know, you just know, that there are people out there, beyond the lights, singing along with you, belting with you, crying with you, cheering for you. I miss the stage. I miss the seriousness. The morbid moments, the on-stage deaths and the gasps of shock from beyond the lights. Backstage, backstage is the best. The running around and the quick changes. Seeing everything of everyone and not even caring, because you know at some point, they are going to see all of you too and you don't have time to care anyway, you have thirty seconds to change from a Nun to a flapper and the fringe is getting tangled in everything and you very nearly don't make it, but you stumble onto stage in the last possible second, kicking your life a nun away behind you and suddenly you're blinded again. And there is applause from beyond the lights because now you're all about that jazz. Before you know it you're back stage, mixed up in another quick change and those are the best moments of the night, surrounded by friends, handing you things, helping to take things off before you're back behind those blinding lights that feel so much like home. It's the buzz, the atmosphere. The messing around with your cast mates and friends, not following on and then you're being shoved onto the stage because you're up and you're a princess and you are trying to remember your lines while simultaneously trying to focus on not tripping over your dress. And it is the best. The best. The best moments of your life can be spent on stage. A solo, a duet full of improvisation because up until five minutes ago you didn't have a co-star. You smash it. Pure brilliance. Highlight of your career. Made a friend for life. I really do miss the stage. I miss everything about it. Standing there, spotlight on you and you're blind. You cannot see beyond the lights and you can feel your pulse racing and your temperature rising. It is the best feeling in the world. It is. I want to go back. I need to go back. I need it.
