i'm painting again

the emptiness that within me that was created by your departure is no longer filled with sadness at the recurring thought of you

your presence is no longer matched with an overwhelming urge to crumble

because I am ever slowly filling myself

filling myself with things that truly make me happy

i am painting again

painting yellow for you but my brush still touches paper

i dug my walkman out again and endulge in T-Rex and Madona

I open my window for early mornings and sit on my rooftop past sundown

rivers, roads and Room 39 gently fill me

despite all these things I have not forgotten about you

on the contrary, memories of you fill me the most

the nights stayed up, the episodes binged, the stories entrusted, the casual touches and sensual ones, and the comfort shared

but unlike before i do not grasp onto them

i willingly let them fill me

not entirely as to leave room for others

because yes i still think of you

but i don't cross your mind

so i must leave room for others
