Chapter 24: Blackout

"Okay Eden what's wrong. We've been looking at baby clothes for an hour and you've been no help. You've just been staring at them and dissociating." She huffs annoyed
"I'm sorry." I frown
"What's up with you?"
"Pups. I've just been thinking more about it recently." I hum and she nods
"You sure that's it? You look really pale." She frowns
"I'm always pale." I roll my eyes and she shakes her head
"No, not normal pale." She says and I shrug
"I guess I haven't been on my best game lately. Stress." I say and she nods, warily.
"Mmm. Maybe it's worth going to a doctor." She suggests and I shrug
"I'll live." I giggle and help her find more clothes.
I get home and go to see Jonah.
He's on the phone but he walks over.
He wraps an arm around me.
I feel nervous as his hand rests on my stomach.
Why do I feel nervous?
I'm really worried about this whole pup thing.
I bite at my lip and close my eyes.
He finally hangs up and looks at me
"What's wrong Eden?" He frowns and I look away
"I-I don't know to be honest. I'm just feeling a lot of pressure." I sigh
"How so?"
"Pups. Your mother asked about my opinion, I had no problem with telling her I want them but then today with Sandy...it felt weird." I sigh.
"Weird how?" He says, rubbing my hip gently with his thumb
"Weird like we should've talked more about it." I mumble and he nods
"Sure, Cmon. We have time."
We walk to our room and begin to talk.
"So, did you change your mind?" He asks and I shake my head
"Of course not. I definitely want pups. Now that we have face and a name to the person who may be a threat to me...I think we are much safer. So timeline...sooner than I said. But not tomorrow or anything." I say and he nods
"Of course." He smiles, clearly ecstatic at the idea of having pups
"Calm down Alpha man." I giggle and he kisses me
"I love you so much Eden." I smile
"I love you too. Plus, I can't wait to see a little you." I say and he smiles
"Mmm." He hums and I kiss him
I wrap my arms around his neck and smile into the kiss, no longer feeling so nervous.
"You can stop shaking now princess." He smirks and I smile
I smile and pull myself even closer to him
He rubs my thigh and kisses my mark
"I think you need some rest." He says and I nod
He lays me down and kisses my nose
"Night princess." He mumbles and I whisper
"Don't go,"
Somehow he hears and he smiles
He holds me and hugs me tight.
"You'll be fine Eden." He smiles
I nod and squeeze him tight, hoping he won't leave.
"I'm not going anywhere, don't worry." He reassures me and I nod.
After awhile I slip into sleep and feel a blanket be wrapped around me.

I wake up and see Jonah is gone.
I frown, he always leaves in the morning.
I feel cold and extremely tired.
I dig further under the blanket and groan.
I haven't felt this sick in awhile.
I close my eyes and whimper.
I clutch at my stomach and try to shake it off.
"Princess. You okay?" Jonah asks
I groan and he picks me up
"Ouchie." I whimper and he frowns
"You okay?"
"No." I mumble and he frowns
"Need to go to the doctor?" He asks and I shake my head
"I'll be fine. I know you want to work." I say and he sighs
"I just want to keep you safe." He breathes and I nod
"I get that." I sigh and whimper
"Eden you aren't okay." He says and wince
"I'm fine." I beg and he scowls
"You promise me that you'll be okay?" He asks, clearly worried
"Yeah?" It comes across more like a question
"Eden." He sighs and I nod
"Yeah. I promise." I smile weakly and he kisses me
I moan quietly and he lays me back down.
"Get me if you need anything." He says and I nod
"Of course." I hum and close my eyes
I nuzzle further under more blankets and I hear Jonah leave.
I hear my phone go off and I check it briefly.
It's a text from Sandy, she says she wants to come over
I tell her to come over but I'm kinda sick.
I sit up in bed and Sandy walks in.
"How is it every time I see you, I'm bigger." She laughs, resting a hand on her belly
"You're not that big."I smile and she sits on the end of the bed.
"So what's up with you?" I ask
"Agh. Pregnancy stuff. Stress."
"You can tell me all about if you want. I know stress is bad for pups." I say and she nods
"We have no plan at all, I mean we are postponing the wedding until the pup is old enough. Besides that we have no plan." She whimpers
I hold her hands and smile
"Then tell him, mates aren't as smart as I thought." I giggle and she laughs
"Jonah is so whipped." She says and I smile
"He sure is." I wheeze a little and she frowns
"You really aren't okay." She pouts and I shrug
"I'm fine."
"Eden, it's okay to not be fine." She sighs
"I know that. I also know I'm fine." I huff and she scowls
"Eden, I get you've been through some serious shit but that doesn't mean you get to close up on me. I'm your best friend." She whimpers and I nod
"Y-Yeah. Right. I'll try." I breathe and she squeezes my hand
"So why don't you fill me in. About your Dad journals and everything."
I begin to explain everything when I get a crushing pain in my head.
I continue to explain after taking aspirin.
I groan and she frowns
"What's up with you, you're clearly sick but you won't admit it." She says and I sigh
"I don't think I'm sick. You know when I'm sick I end up passing out." I huff
"You look like you are about to." She says and I shrug
She has to go, something about a registry.
I feel myself sway and I hold my head
I walk to his office and knock on the door before stumbling in.
I slap a hand over my mouth before my eyes roll into my head
Jonah dashes over and catches me as I black out.
