Chapter 60: Nighty Night Baby

Jonah PoV:
"Jake?" I ask
"Hey bro, I heard Eden had the baby?"
"She did." I smile
"Congrats, daddy!" He laughs and I snort
"Thanks Jake. Anything happened with your mate?"
"Yes actually, she's here now."
"Good." I smile
"So what's the little bastard called?"
"Malik."
"Hot."
"I don't understand you Jake." I laugh
I hang up after a moment, I was honestly afraid that he was going to tell me he hurt Eden again.
"Jonah? Would you like to have your son back?" Mom giggles and I look back at her
"Huh? Oh, yes of course." I laugh and hold him close to me.
I grips my finger tight and I smile
"We'll be back tomorrow, it's getting late. Tell Eden we wish her the best."
I nod and walk upstairs gently, with Malik close to my chest,
I cradle him and open the door
I see Eden wake up and I frown
"Baby go back to bed." I pout
"Malik." She says and I walk over
She holds him and once I go to put him down he begins to cry.
Eden whimpers and goes to get up but I stop her.
I finally get him to quite down after an hour and Eden looks at me
"Jonah. I can't sleep without you." She frowns and I smile
"Alright gorgeous, just give me a second." I kiss her head when I get a phone call.
I don't recognise this number...
I answer and hear a growl
"Who is this?" I snap, stepping out of the room
"No one important Jonah, just know that if you insist on clearing the name of Eden's father...someone won't be happy about it. I'm telling you know, they'll hurt your mate or even your child. You cannot clear his name. I've risked a great deal to tell you this." They panic and hang up
I feel my heart pound and I rush back in,
I see Eden's fragile frame outlined by Malik's crib near our bed.
"Jonah? You Alright?" She yawns, and I nod
"Y-Yeah I'm fine."
She frowns and walks over gently
"Baby be careful." I say and she smiles
"I know Jonah." She kisses my cheek and grips my hand
"I'm sleepy." She mumbles and I lay her down
I carefully stay away from her and she frowns
"Am I diseased or something? Why are you avoiding me?"
"I don't want to hurt you." I frown
"I'm fine!" I wrap my arms around her and she purrs
"I love you." She purrs
"I love you too." I breathe and kiss her cheek
She smile and purrs
"Night." She breathes.

I hear Malik cry and I sit up
I see Eden is already awake and rocking him in the chair.
"Shhh baby." She coaxes and feeds him
"Baby you should've woken me up."
"I heard him whimpering so I woke up. You need sleep too Jonah." She says and I pout
"Is he alright?" I ask and she nods, closing her eyes
"Doesn't that hurt?" I ask and she giggles
"At first, not anymore."
He finally pulls away and she burps him.
"Oookay little guy, you feeling better? Why don't we get you back to bed." She rubs his back and carries him over to me
She sits beside me and I kiss his head
"Pup." I breathe as he begins to fall asleep, his chest rising and falling.
"I already changed him, so hopefully he'll sleep through for longer." She says and I smile
"Thanks for letting me sleep darling." I say and she smiles
Eden PoV:
He was on edge when he went to bed.
I just want him to relax.
Is the pup worrying him?
I rest Malik is his crib and smile. I walk two paces back to bed and look at Jonah
"Baby what's stressing you out?" I frown
"Nothing darling." He chuckles and I scowl
"Is it Malik? Me?" I frown and he shakes his head
"Of course not." He tucks my hair behind my ears and I shudder
"I'm freezing." I whimper
"It's really not that cold." He chuckles and I pout
"Redheads." He rolls his eyes and I prod his cheek
"Meanie,"
He chuckles and kisses me
I moan happily and he holds me close
"How's your wolf?" I say as he wraps the blanket around me
"Somewhat worried to be honest. He's worried I'm going to keep him from caring for our son." I say
"You will let him though? He's my child's father too." I scowl and he nods
"I will."
I smile and he makes sure I'm warm.
"Eden can I ask you something?"
"Sure..." I frown
"How much does your father mean to you?"
"A lot,"
"And clearing his name?"
"Jonah what's happening?"
"Nothing. Nothing. I think I'm just exhausted," he rubs his head and I kiss his cheek.
"Goodnight,' I say and he wraps his arms around me
"Goodnight." He replies and I smile

I yawn and climb out of bed.
I see Malik in Jonah's arms by the window
"Was he fussing?" I frown and he nods
I rub my eyes and he kisses my head
"I need to have a shower," I mumble
"Will you be alright?" He asks and I nod
"I'll call if I need something." I muse and kiss his cheek
"Perfect."
Jonah PoV:
I hold Malik tight.
Whoever that person was, they sought to hurt me and my mate, even my son.
I hope I can leave her father's name be for now, it hasn't been urgent recently and I can't imagine her bringing it up...
"Jonah?" She calls and I look at the bathroom door
"Everything okay darling?"
"I just feel kinda dizzy..." She trails off.
I swiftly place Malik in his crib and rush into the bathroom,
She tugs her shirt further down her body and sways a little.
"Okay, come here." I breathe and she leans on me,
"Thank you." She chirps
"Thank you for calling me, I don't want you slipping and hurting yourself." I say and she nods
"Yeah." She rubs her head and I sit her down
"You want me to call the doctor?"
"No I think I just got up too fast. I should eat." She breathes and I smile
"Of course, lets go downstairs."
She holds Malik close to her chest and I wrap my arm around her as we walk downstairs.
She's safe now.
I breathe out.
I can keep her safe. I made that promise.
I just need to follow through.
