Chapter 33: Careful

The wound is clean.
We are home now.
Jonah can't stay awake for longer than an hour. He just can't function.
Either smells become too much, or there is too much noise or light.
Or he just can't stay awake.
I'm trying to help but I think I'm only making it worse.
I talked to his mother in length about it, she's the best honestly.
I look at the time and slip into the bedroom.
"Jonah?" I whisper and he groans.
"Jonah you gotta get up." I frown
"Eden." He rasps and I hum
"Come here." He grumbles and I sit on the bed,
He pulls me close
I smile and he kisses my mark
I gasp out and he holds me.
"Tell me if I'm hurting your leg." He mumbles and I smile
"I will."

Waking up, I sit bolt upright, getting s groan from Jonah
"Sorry, I forgot where I was." I mumble and he rubs my back
"It's three am princess." He yawns
"Sorry." I say and wriggle back into bed.
He kisses my head and falls back to sleep.
I check his pulse, I'm always terrified about him lately.
What if that monster takes a hold of him again.
I can't sleep now.
It's just not going to happen.
I manage to slip out of his hold, he grumbles but remains asleep.
I sit down in the kitchen and whimper
I haven't slept in days, I got two hours last night and Jonah can't even wake up.
I know my fight with Gio is iv r but there's still one man I'm yet to meet.
Jacob.
Jonah's brother.
I finally look at the clock and frown.
Six am.
"Eden you need to sleep." Jonah says
I look up and see him
"You got up?" I smile and he shakes his head
"This isn't about me, go to sleep." He says and I look down
"I've been thinking about your brother." I mumble and his eyes widen.
"He didn't talk to you did he?" He blurts, terrified
"No. No of course not. I'd tell you." I say and he calms down
"Fuck." He breathes and I look down
"I miss you." I frown
"I miss you too Eden, I'm sorry he took so much out of me." He sighs
"It's not your fault. You spiralled and lost control, you did the right thing." I smile
He nods
"Right." He breathes
"Go back to bed Jonah, you need to rest."
"I'm not going anywhere without you." He smirks and I stand up
He bring me to the bedroom and pulls em close
"Sleep darling." He sighs and I nod
"Right."

I wake up and see Jonah is gone.
I jump up but my leg gives out and I yelp.
I limp out and search for him, eventually finding him on the phone.
Talking to his mother.
"I promise, I know, look I'm trying here. I'm not sure if she will." He sighs, I duck behind the door.
"Of course I love her, I owe my life to her."
I smile, I owe my life to him so I guess we're even.
I continue to listen
"It's harder than that. She's miserable and I can't do anything about it."
I knock on the door and he spins around
He smiles and beckons me over.
I slip into his arms and he hangs up.
"Hey Angel."
"What's up? You sound stressed." I frown
"It's nothing." He smiles but his hold is weakening.
"You need to sit down." I frown and he huffs, but listens.
He sits down and I sit next to him.
"Jonah, I hope you know I don't blame you for any of this."
"You don't?"
"No."
He kisses my head and I smile
"Eden, are we still...in the same place. When it comes to pups?" He asks
"Hmm, well definitely not till you're better." I smirk and he chuckles
"Of course." He smiles
He looks at me and I frown.
We walk downstairs and I wince as I put pressure on my leg
"Eden, I'm not asking anymore. Go to a doctor. I'll be fine, clearly its more than just a cut."
"Jonah what if you need me?"
"I'll be okay." He smiles
"Promise?"
"Promise. I'm sorry I can't take you." He frowns and I kiss him
He pulls me close
"I'll be okay." I smile

"A What?" I blurt
"A scar will be permanent on your leg, and it may take a very long time to heal. Somehow the amount of force used on you was also tainted with silver."
Of course.
I look down and whimper
"Luna, is there anything else you want to ask?" She asks and I frown
"Uhm. Well. Fertility?" I say and she smiles
"I didn't know you and Alpha were trying?"
"Only recently, I just wanna know," I smile and she nods
"I'll show you to the right place." She brings me in and sits me down.
It's times like these I wish I had a phone and not just a landline.
I could text Jonah to calm myself down.
After a little while they tell me I'll get the results tomorrow.
I nod and walk quickly, excited to be home.
I get home and my leg is burning.
I whimper and unlock the door.
I fall into the couch and whimper, my mate is nowhere to be seen.
"Jonah!" I call, psychically I'm too much pain to move.
He soon emerges, rubbing his eyes.
He yawns and smiles at me
"Hey, any news?" He asks and I look down
"Looks like its permanent. It'll take a long time to heal." I sigh and he frowns
"I still think your beautiful." He smiles
"Also I'm waiting for a call, from the hospital, if they call, don't answer. I need to know first." I say
"Everything okay?" He frowns and I chuckle
"Yeah."
I try to stand up but whimper.
He scoops me up and I frown
"Jonah you shouldn't be picking me up."
"How else are you gonna move?" He smirks
I give up and nuzzle closer to him, praying the test comes back positive and I don't have to worry.
