Chapter 22

The Day I Went Shopping

Alice takes one look at my face and smirks.

"Just kidding! Your face was actually hilarious though, seriously!"

I hit Alice in the chest and frown.

"That wasn't funny!"

"I can't believe you didn't know about Liam, trust me; he's not really a bad guy.. He just wants the best for his family."

"But he's a DRUG DEALER!" I almost shout, does she not understand how bad this is?

"Oh calm down Scar, sometimes you're too dramatic. Lets go shopping and we'll talk about it later, okay?"

I nod and before I know it, we're in front of New Look.

"Come on, lets go." We walk in and almost immediately Alice finds the shiny jeans she has been dreaming of.

We wander around for a while after that and half an hour later, Alice has two armfuls of clothes and I'm sat in the changing room, scoring them out of 10.

Pink floaty top.....9

Turquoise and red skirt.....4

Yellow dress.......6

White lace jumper.....8

Shiny jeans......10

Those jeans are gorgeous, I wonder how I'd look in them?

"Oh my gosh! Scarlett!"

I look up at Alice and she points at my legs.

I'm-I'm wearing shiny jeans.

Does this mean.....

I HAVE FASHION POWERS

"I have fashion powers!" I exclaim at the same time Alice says,

"You look amazing!"

I look at the top she's wearing, it's an old one with a picture of a cat saying 'Check Meow-t'.

I want to wear-

"How are you wearing my top!" Alice exclaims and I grin.

"This is amazing! Come on, lets go I want to go in so many more shops and now you can try things on too!"

She buys everything she tries on and doesn't blink when the cashier tells her that it all adds up to £139.98.

In the next hour we try on everything from sports wear to party wear, stopping for lunch in-between and we're just about to walk into a prom boutique when I realise what the time is.

"Can you believe we've spent 4 hours shopping already? It feels like minutes!"

Alice grins, "I know right!"

Alice is holding a ton of bags and I feel bad that I can't help her but levitating bags might look pretty weird.

Lets just say that the Prom boutique is AMAZING.

Dress after dress after dress line every walk and sit on mannequins or in neat rows.

Our mouths drop open in awe.

Feathers, jewels, satin, silk, lace, net.

Bags, hats, jewellery, tiaras, shoes, masks.

Everything you could ever need for prom is literally in front of us and as two teenage girls, we can't help but love it.

I run around visualising dress after dress, satin with bows, pink mermaid, blue netting.

Heels, flats and even a pair of rhinestone converse.

The shop assistants are flocked around Alice; holding out shoes and paying her compliments.

I roll my eyes and sit down on the floor, my eyes roaming around the other customers.

I look at the door and yawn, tick tock.

A girl walks out of the changing room and stomps her foot,

"Its not short enough!" She shouts at the assistant who looks as shocked as I feel.

It's Kaley, what a surprise.

I roll my eyes, then look at the time.

7:15

I need to go.

"Alice!"

She looks over and I point at the clock,

"Lets go..?"

She nods and smiles at the people around her.

We walk out of the shop a little while later with a tiara and a pair of strappy heels that Alice can't walk in,

"I can learn!" She said when I mentioned it, she has an excuse for everything.

The Taxi back to her house takes at least 1/2 an hour and she pulls me into a hug before I go.

"I've had a great day Scarlett. I just hope you get everything right but I don't want to forget today."

"I won't forget."

She walks into her house and I walk back to Liam's, not fearing the dark anymore.

By the time I get back, the house is almost silent; only the hum of the TV can be heard and I head straight upstairs to find Liam asleep.

I brush my teeth and crawl onto my makeshift bed of an armchair covered in pillows and soft blankets.

My eyes close on their own and before I know it, I'm asleep.
