"Dear, are you nervous?"
You look up from your cereal, smiling at your mom, "Nope, why would I be nervous? I have friends, mom, thanks to Todd."
"Yes, Todd, I like that guy, he helped me with the wifi one time!" She chuckles.
"You've told me that thrice already, mom." You shake your head, bringing the bowl to the sink after you've drank the milk from it. "Anyway, I'll head out now, they're probably waiting for me by the bus stop."
"Have fun! Here's $10, tell me what happens tomorrow morning, alright dear?" She says, giving you the money and kissing you on the forehead. "Stay out of trouble, okay? Oh, and here's your schedule, I almost forgot."
"Thanks mom, see ya!" You wave before exiting out the door. You head to the elevator, seeing Todd already in front of it. You pocket the schedule in your hands, greeting, "Morning Morrison!"
"Morning, L/N." He greets in return. Somehow, you've gotten the habit of calling each other by your surnames for fun. It's gotten to the rest of your friends as well, though not Sal and Larry as they still call each other Larry Face and Sally Face. Children.
The elevator opens up, revealing Chug and Sal.
"Hello Fisher." Both you and Todd greet, entering the elevator with them.
"Morrison, L/N." Sal acknowledges, his voice void of emotion but having lost its rude tone. Or did you just perceive him as having a rude voice? You don't know.
"The bet ends when someone calls us by our first names, right?" You remind, the two boys in the bet nodding in agreement.
"Can I join the bet?" Chug asks, a half-eaten sandwich in his mouth. "It sounds fun."
"The bet includes a fifty dollars each person." Sal tells him. "Unless you want to be broke, don't join."
"Oh, bummer. I'll get in on the next bet."
The elevator stops on the first floor, all of you inside heading out. You wait for a few moments, seeing Larry get out of the elevator next.
"Johnson." You greet, with the boy's eyes widening.
"Shit, I nearly forgot about that!" He laughs, the lot of you heading out of the apartment complex. "Good morning, Morrison, L/N, Fisher!"
"Morning to you, Johnson."
You laugh your way to the bus stop, seeing a forest haired boy standing by the bus stop.
"Hey Liam!" Larry greets, waving at the boy. The boy turns, his face lighting up at the sight of you lot.
"Good morning to you, Larry!" He greets in return, laughing. You take notice of his accent, he's.. British? The guy, Liam, notices you and greets, "Good morning to you! New to Nockfell?"
Todd speaks up, "They've been here for two months, meet-"
"I'm Y/N L/N, nice to meet you!" You introduce with a cheerful smile.
"I'm William Dominique Erulia, pleasure to meet you too." Liam goes ahead to shake your hand. "Please do call me Liam, everyone does. I feel too posh when called by my actual name."
"After years, calling you anything else than Liam seems weird now." Larry scrunches up his nose. They have a chat, while you go ahead and observe Liam's features: he has green hair, blue eye- wait, eye, he wears an medical eyepatch on his right eye. You tilt your head, observing further.
Nockfell is filled with odd people: Sal with his prosthetic face, Mina with her medical mask, and now Liam with his eyepatch?
You get chills down your spine, feeling a headache brewing in your head.
