【 xliv ; a little chat 】

【Author's Note : hello! Somewhat filler chapter, conversation between reader and selly! Something to bring some content to the story before going back to the plot ;)】

"Wha- What?!"

"Is there something going on with you and Ash." You state again, still holding her hand behind you. You try to strain your ears for any other voice, all the while listening to Selene. You squeeze her hand, asking, "Do you not want to talk about it?"

"No, it's.. just that, um," Selly's voice falters, though you don't really push her. You glance at the openings at the ends of the room, frowning once Sal and Larry haven't returned yet. She sighs, saying, "I like girls."

You weren't surprised to hear that from her, but you were more surprised at the way she says it so easily.

"That's cute," You tell her, giving her a reassuring squeeze. "Do you like anyone?"

"That's.. the thing w-with Ash," She admits in a soft voice, a soft thud resounding behind you as you can tell she rested her head against the gate. "I told her about it. She says that.. she wants to give us a try.."

"Isn't that great, though?" You say, smiling even though she wouldn't be able to see it. With a sudden realisation to your current situation, your smile drops and you suddenly choke on your words, "Ah shit- right, I'm sorry, I forgot about-"

"It's- It's alright, Y/N." Selene assures, squeezing your hand. "I'm just worried for her.. I should have stayed in the room with you guys, she wouldn't have fallen down.."

"On another perspective," You suck in a deep breath as you think about your next words, saying, "Not that saying it's good, but Ash falling down the vent lead us here. This is something that Mina should know about."

"Mina already had an idea about the cult having a place, but she wasn't so sure where it was." She says, a sigh escaping her lips. "Her parents have kept her out of most information but they still told her to watch out for the smallest of signs.."

"That's expected." You nod, pondering on it. Not wanting to stay on a heavy topic, you continue, "So, um, you and Ash?"

"I, um- yes.." She sounds rather sheepish, and you found it adorable. "It's been going on for a while.. since that time we had a sleep over. She found it cute that I liked her, and she said that we take things slow and such.. how about you? When did you and Sal become together?"

"Just earlier, actually," You chuckle, smiling as you remember about the blue haired guy. "At first he was so rude that he scared me, but I got used to his snarky remarks and such. He's actually pretty adorable, I think he's touch starved?"

"He is," She giggles at your words, squeezing your hand, "He'd hug me sometimes because he's mentioned that I'm like a big sister figure, and he'd feel embarrassed asking for it."

"He's been showing signs recently," You say, smiling as you let out a contented sigh. "He'd hold my hand and such, I hang out in his room more often than not, there as one time that we were hanging out in his room after-"

You nearly stop talking as you were about to reveal that one night you and the others went to the forest to search for ghosts. Clearing your throat, you continue, "- and I was comforting him. We held hands the entire time, I was resting my head on his shoulder, I think?"

"Sally likes that stuff," She says, lightly chuckling. "He actually likes being hugged but he doesn't like showing it so much. I guessed that it was linked to what happened before he was in Nockfell, so I never asked questions."

"He's surely a mystery, though, I wonder how he got his mask." You find yourself saying, not expecting Selene to know the answer. The both of you settle into a comfortable silence, somehow finding peace in each others' presence despite the fact that you're in a cult chamber of some sorts.

"What do you like about Sal, Y/N?"

The question catches you off guard, but you take time to think about it to yourself.

"I like how he can speak his mind so easily, even though he comes off as rude." You explain, hugging your knees to yourself. "I can tell that his rudeness is some sort of defence mechanism to him, he's quick to return anything with a retort. Other than that, he's pretty adorable. He loves physical touches, I bet he could spend a whole day just cuddling in bed."

"He seems to be that type of person." Selene says, squeezing her hand. "You didn't ask but.. Ash is nice. She's been my friend for as long as I can remember, I'm still trying to guess if what I feel for her is how I actually feel or it's something I feel because she has been my friend the longest.."

"Either way," You run circles on her knuckles with a thumb, saying, "You still love her. That's fine, at least."

"I wish Mina was here, I want to ask her about Larry." She says, giggling. "Mina sounds mature but she easily gets flustered when you ask her about her relationship."

"Sadly she had to do homework, she had always been the most diligent one out of most of us." You chuckle. You suddenly feel aware of the situation once again, turning to the doors if any one of the guys has returned.

They haven't.

"Don't worry, Y/N, they'll be okay." Selene assures, squeezing her hand. "They're strong. Also, if anyone was here, we should have been captured or something."

"That's.. not so reassuring, but I'll take your word for it." You chuckle, shaking your head.

The doors in front of you suddenly end up opening, causing you to stand up abruptly. Your eyes widen as the doors slowly push backwards, the room inside showing itself. You shudder at the sight, the slow rumble of the doors causing you to be anxious.

"Y/N!"

You look to the left, seeing that Sal had returned. He jumps at you with a hug, though luckily you don't fall.

"You opened it." You say, giving him a kiss on his mask. "Good job."

"I know." He mumbles, then turning to Selene, "Thank you for keeping Y/N company."

"No worries, S-Sally."

"Larry's back, baby! Now let's see what's inside this room!" Larry exclaims, running out of the room he was in. He heads straight for the opened doors, only to skid to a stop. He speaks, "Sal, remember when you said something about bones earlier?"

You all turn to him, eyes wide.

"I think I found where they are."

【Author's Note : it's a shorter chapter, ugh. I might not update for a while because im feeling too down. Im recovering from a break up, I was the one who broke it up but im still recovering nonetheless. Also! Thank you for supporting Ante Mortem up to this point!
