Ever since coming to Nockfell, you've had your doubts about fitting in. You didn't exactly had the best friends, you had some close one but not up to the point of keeping touch with you now that you're miles away from where you once were. You remember reading a book in your old house, your mom entering your room with a glum look that you're being evicted.
You didn't mind, you wanted to leave your town anyway. You didn't have a hard time throwing how things that didn't matter to you anymore, saying goodbye to people you were close with, and forgetting all the mindless memories you created. It's like you never belonged in that town anyway; despite of living there for most of your life, you never felt a sense of.. belonging, a sense that you fit in.
Here in Nockfell, your presence suddenly made sense. You fit in like a puzzle, and for you, that felt like a problem.
Everything around you seems so perfect, even though Nockfell is a shithole and the fact that you couldn't trust any official, it all seems so.. fitting. The way that you fit in immediately after just moving in, it made you a bit suspicious after a few months of living in the town.
The only thing plaguing your life are the constant torment of THEM and the nightmares that visited you every night.
The nightmares stayed the same despite it being months already: you running the length of a seemingly endless hallway, trying to get to a door. You never knew why you felt so scared, why you were crying in the nightmare, and why you cried every time you waked up.
Part of you just said that it's because of the dangers of Nockfell finally getting to you head, but another part of you said that it's part of something bigger.
You never really pondered much on the thought, that is until now. You find yourself face to face with a crime scene walking home with the group, watching officers put police tape all over the place. You and your friends walk to a stop, standing directly in front of the house. You direct your attention to the floor, seeing dry, crunchy leaves crushed into your foot.
You smile a bit, thinking how Fall has come. Winter isn't really a season you've dealt with since you came from California, but you never really liked Summer due to the intense heat.
"The fuck happened here?" Larry asks, his hands placed behind his head. He turns to Mina and Ash, who live nearby the crime scene, "You know about this?"
"I do not know anything about this, maybe Ashley does?" Mina turns to the brunette, who looks a bit unsure.
"Heard my parents talking about it, but the story is that there's someone dealing drugs and has a drug lab under the house." Ash says, hugging herself. "I don't really go near that house, gives me the creeps."
"I saw the owner one day, and I too felt the creeps." Mina furrows her eyebrows, seemingly frowning under her mask. You guys then decide to leave the house, not wanting to ponder on the crime scene. Mina then lightens up, turning to you, "Also, I have asked my parents about the sleepover you guys were planning, they said we could use my house."
"You sure your parents wouldn't mind?" You ask her, pushing your hands deeper into your hoodie's pocket- technically it isn't your hoodie, it's actually Sal's, but he doesn't know because you stole it from him after he stole your hair tie.
"They said this weekend would be okay, they were going on a business trip anyway." She smiles, by the way her eyes squint. She turns to the others, asking, "So? Are you guys okay with it?"
"How many of us will go to your house anyway?" Sal speaks up. He walks up to you, tugging on the hood of the jacket you were wearing as he says, "Better give me back this later."
"Not until you return my hair tie." You stick your tongue out at him, and you bound up to Mina, slinging your arm with hers. You've gotten a lot closer in Science class, and you're grateful for the girl for helping you with the subject. Most of the time your head would be deep in your thoughts trying to think about the nightmares you're getting.
"Well, there's me, you, Ash, Todd, probably Neil, Gab, Y/N, Mina of course, uhh.." Larry looks around him, counting with his fingers then just raising all ten of them, "Selene and Liam."
"We're a lot, wow."
"That's us friends, it's kind of a guess." You say, looking up. "We never know who would be available."
"What.. What if we make a group chat? We have each others' numbers, right?" Ash suggests, already pulling her phone out of her pocket. "I mean, there would only be nine of us because Gab doesn't have a phone, but still, Y/N or Todd could inform him."
"Yeah, why haven't we made a group chat?" You asks, taking your phone out of your pocket to see a notification. You look around at them in confusion, pressing on it and directing you to a group message. You go to the settings, checking who is in it. Recognising the names, you look at them with a curious look, "Who the hell-?"
You pause, seeing Ash on her phone, typing furiously. You turn back to your phone, seeing it flooded by notifications as you each get a nickname. You howl in laughter, shaking your head and raising your phone as you show the screen to them
"Ash made the group chat and gave us nicknames!" You shout, laughing as you wave your phone for the others to see.
