Preparing to Fast

Salam Everyone! Ramadan is coming shortly and so that means fasting and repenting for our sins and becoming more spiritual. Generally speaking fasting takes a toll on people and can be hard for some people. So, here are some tips for helping prepare to fast.

1. Slowly start eating and drinking less. Fasting means eating and drinking nothing except at sundown and sunrise. Going cold turkey can be difficult so wean your way out of it.

2. Start waking up extra early. In Ramadan you wake up a bit earlier before dawn so start waking up early  so your body can prepare for waking up.

3. Voluntary Fasting. This is a key factor. The best way to fast is to do a practice fast. It will prepare you and your body to start fasting.

4. Meal plan. Planning your meal for Ramadan will take a lot of food off your mind. You are not worrying about what to make for suhoor or Iftar. Plus you can just buy the materials  for cooking without getting a lot of cravings.
