Evan's Pov.Again, I was covered in the dews of ice and ash. The things I couldn't see, but I knew this was just another damn dream. I was holding my mother's hand with mine, following her same steps as she moves. This time instead of.. home, we were in the middle of a patch of pine trees covered from tip to bottom in snow. I didn't and I don't understand what this odd dreams try to tell me, and I can't put my finger on which side they are.
From my other little hand there's a little boy like me, holding my hand and from his other hand a trail of more little boys and girls behind us. The kid has gray-ish frozen eyes, his hair a chestnut color and small freckles on his cheeks and nose: he seems familiar. The second after him has hair as black as a crow, eyes green as emeralds and skin as white as snow. The others I couldn't see, they were blurry.
"Mommy?" The little one with gray eyes asked, my mother looked back at him and stops.
"Yes, Ryan? What is it love?" She gets down in one knew, brushing his hair out of his face.
"Why did you take us away from dad? He said he wanted to help us"
Mother sighs in sadness, but still giving Ryan a big smile. "Your father thinks he can take away your little spark baby, all of yours. And that is not good, so I took you all with me. You'll be safe with me, all of you will. Do you trust me?"
"Of course we do!" I pitched in, the green-eyed boy agreeing with me.
"Alright, well we better get going. I don't want any of you to get sick." *She stands up, planting a small peck on Ryan's forehead."
"Yes Mommy,"
I wake up to the sun beaming through the curtains once more, John must've opened them recently. I sit up and don't see him in my room, so I decide to get up and dress all nice and comfy. We got clothing yesterday, so I don't have to use his clothes anymore. I take a grab one of the new shirts and a pair of boxers and jeans, with those I make my way to the shower and turn it on. As I wait for the water to heat to a nice temperature I undress, looking at the small little scars that are planted on my body. I trace my finger over them, I can't remember how I got these wounds. I suddenly jump at the sound of a few knocks in the door, I open just a little bit and look through the crack.
Oh it's John,
"..Yes?" I ask akwardly.
"Get ready once you're done in there, I made plans today and we're gonna go see Luke!" He cheers, his blue orbs brightening up.
Cute.
It makes me smile, "Alright, I'll be out in just little."
He nods happily, closing the door. I quickly go back and get in the shower, the water feels nice. I quickly take a nice shower, when getting out putting on the desired clothing I chose and brushing my teeth. I didn't bother to fix my hair, I walk out and see Jon waiting for me by the kitchen.
"Hey, ready to go Evan?" He grabs his wallet and car keys, opening the door for me.
"Yes, let's go. I'm excited to meet your friends," I give him a reassuring smile, he just quickly pulls me to his car.
"Woah bud, calm down!" As I get inside he's already in and ready, the car humming alive.
He doesn't say anymore words and just quickly drives off, the smile never leaving his lips.
"I'm sorry, I just haven't seen him or the others for so long! It's.. very nice to see them again, you know? They're like family to me, they really are." He turns up radio, listening to a band of rock that I don't know now of.
Surely enjoying himself, but he turns the volume down after a long while.
"Hey, Evan?" I look over, giving him my attention.
"Yeah? What's up?"
"How can you hide your wings? Right now they're tucked, and just yesterday they were all huge and spread over the couch. I don't understand, do they get small? How do they disappear?" He looks at me for a moment before looking back at the road, making turns.
"Hm, well. My wings can become small, but they don't like that. It's like they have a mind of their own! And the way they disappear is, the bone begins to become smaller and smaller until it's all the way tucked in my back. It makes me shrudder just the thought about it, and the feathers pluck off and that's a problem I have. A fucking mess honestly,"
He smiles, "Wow, that's fascinating Evan. Also, I got one more question."
"Go on,"
"What about.. shifting? The fist time I met you you were an owl, now you're.. well you, but a guy."
"Oh! Well, think about it this way. The owl is like an animal itself, but with me in mind and body. If I'm scared or agitated, or even an enemy of sort the owl will get scared. Causing me to freak and forcing us to shift, it's like a spirit animal ya know? But I don't have the qualities of an owl as in living. I'm still me, I like better than any person. Cuz I'm part owl, it's.. really weird." I chuckle, him humming to my response.
"Alright, well thanks for telling me. It's been bothering me since you got here," He smiles, his blue eyes shinning. Causing my heart to jump, fuck's wrong with me?
With nothing else to ask, we listen to the radio until we meet a nice neighborhood. The houses look huge! But no space between them, what's the point in privacy then? He parks in front of a dark colored brown home, big as the other ones and again almost no space. He quickly jumps off, I do the same as he is already by the front door. He's waiting for me, I'm a bit nervous to be honest.
I don't remember the last time I visited a friend.
Hi, this chapter was a bit longer but eh. It'll be back to normal the next one, enjoy.
