My mind often drifted. But this was different.

I had been obsessively thinking about Jayde.

Her face swam through my head, in every idle moment I had, the image of her dark brown eyes and how they looked over me longingly had ingrained itself into my memory. I had missed those eyes more than I had realized.

They were so warm and welcoming. Everything she was, was locked within her irises. I could see everything.

The thoughts of her were always accompanied by the fact that she was indeed with someone else. My blood boiled whenever I thought about it, so I was angry every day. Angry that I couldn't have her and angry that she walked away from me.

I respected her decision, but if I couldn't have her, I didn't want anyone to have the pleasure of having her either. I wanted no one to know what she felt like wrapped around them— I wanted no one to know what it was like to be with her at all, but now someone else did know, and it drove me crazy.

I frowned, shaking my head as the anger began to cloud my head and instead tried to focus on the girl that had been steadily talking about god knows what.

She stopped talking when she realized I probably hadn't heard a single thing that she had said. "You weren't listening to anything I said, were you?"

I smiled at her sheepishly and grabbed her hand, kissing the back of it in apology. "I have a lot on my mind. I'm sorry. What were you saying?"

"What's on your mind, I want to know."

"It's nothing."

"Come on, Robyn. Talk to me, I promise I'll listen," she pressed.

I shook my head firmly, "It's nothing important."

"Are you sure?" she asked, cocking her head.

I plastered a convincing smile on my face and nodded. "Yeah, I'm sure."

Her blueish eyes scanned over me for another moment as they dissected me.

"What were you talking about?" I deflected, kissing the back of her hand tenderly in hopes she would stop asking me what I was thinking about.

"I want to go out with my friends tonight."

"You don't have to ask my permission, Athena. Have fun with your friends."

She blushed a rosy pink, chewing on the inside of her cheek. "I'm not asking permission. I want you to come with me."

Oh.

I guess I should've known that she would eventually drag me along with her to meet her friends.

A large part of me wanted to say no, but that wasn't an option because I had no excuse as to why I didn't want to go.

"Sure."

Her eyes widened comically. "Wait really??"

"Yeah, love. I'll come."

She climbed into my lap and hugged me tightly, pulling away to plant a string of kisses on my face.

I wrinkled my nose, laughing softly, allowing myself to receive her affections.

"There's 4 other people going," she said. "Matthew and a few people you've never met. I know you'll love them!"

She smiled at me brightly. Even through my reservations I couldn't help but return her smile. "I will."

I rubbed up and down her sides, letting my hands finally rest on her backside. She was wearing small cotton pajama shorts that left nothing to the imagination and one of my white tank tops.
