David started to talk, in a loud yet relieved tone. "We thought that after you ran away, that we'd never see you again!" Then Snow continued, as David started to smile, his eyes widening. "I was so worried when I got that call from Doctor Whale from the woods and when you nearly died on the way back."

I looked over at Emma as the waterfall of words hit her like a bullet to the chest. She looked back at me, not saying anything, shocked.

Snow and David continued talking until they stopped and David asked Emma a question. "What happened to your leg and your head?" His eyes scanned Emma's bruised body. I looked at Emma wondering if she wanted me to answer.

However, with a little hesitation, she looked away from me and back at her parents. "I was in the forest running away fr..." She stopped herself before carrying on. "And I tripped down a hill." She finished her sentence with a slight stutter as David looked shocked, his eyes open wide.

His eyes now gaping even wider than before, he looked at Emma, shocked.
"How did you get so many injuries from a hill?" He asked Emma, his eyes traveling down her body suspiciously.

Emma had no words to speak with, so breathed deeply and started to talk, taking her time, gripping my hand tighter and more extenciuatinly more before. "I... I think I..." Emma couldn't finish her sentence so she just lay in her bed, her hand now layed across her abdomen.

I decided to give Emma some help and therefore finished her sentence for her. "The hill was really steep and she fell down quickly." I finished the sentence as all eyes were cast amongst my face, locking my eye into position.

David didn't take long to speak back to me, asking more questions. "What? You were with her?" He took a single breath before carrying on asking inquisitively. "Why was she running then? Away from you?" As David finished his sentence, I couldn't help but feel an anguish of guilt cast over me.

I looked down at Emma, trying to hold my facial expressions inside. She also looked shocked, guilty.

Snow had to stop David before he shouted at me. "David... It doesn't matter, she is safe now." She tried to reassure him by holding his hand and touching his cheek, which eventually stopped him from talking.

Emma took her hand of her abdomen, giving up on trying to hide her bandage. She thumbled her fingers and her hand shaked as she did so. I grabbed her hand trying to hold it tight, but it was still shaking repetitively.

David then spoke up, seeing her abdomen, paying more attention to it than before. "What happened to your abdomen Emma?!" He moved his hand onto her stomach as her eyes squinted with the pain.

Emma lay in the bed, breathing heavily before her eyes closed, trying to think of an answer to his question. "I..." She begun, her words no longer like an avalanche in her chest. "It is cut quite deeply and...." She stopped again this time, taking David's hand and removing it from her stomach slowly, gasping from the pain.

"The doctor's used a compression bandage and tried stitches but it is too deep so he can't do it." Emma carried on speaking, but grabbed my hand once again as she massaged her stomach. "Then, he tried a compression bandage and that didn't work and I woke up covered in blood this morning."

I looked up at David and Snow's facial expressions and they looked shocked.
Snow began to talk as I saw a tear creep down her cheek. "Sweetie, we had no idea about this morning." I looked back down at Emma and she slightly smiled, trying not to cry too.

"Mum, I know, I didn't know until Killian woke me up and called for help." Everyone turned and looked at me before David started to talk. "You saved her?"

I couldn't think of anything to say. "Aye. I'd do anything for Emma." Emma started to cry then. As I reached down to wipe her tears, David started talking. "Thank you Killian." I silently nodded wiping Emma's tears as they came and holding her hand tight.

David started. "Emma, what are they going to do with your abdomen?" This time Emma spoke with no hesitation.
"There going to perform an operation to seal it and hopefully do a skin graft."

Both of David and Snow leaned in for another hug with Emma and this time, David pulled me in with open arms as we hugged all together - a family.
