I can't remember very much about what happened last night after Snow and David left the hospital.
Although, I think I may have a little hint from the scrutinising head ache which hit me when I awoke this morning.
I rolled out of the bed to my eyes drawn shut from the brightness of the sun escaping from the curtains. "Oh bloody hell." I groaned whilst adjusting my body away from the sunlight, finding myself looking towards Emma's pale face.
"Morning love." I mumbled whilst kissing her cheek in the process, trying to avoid the strong smell of alcohol from hitting her face. "I guess I can't help myself ey?" I looked over across her bed, still watching the heart monitor beep and the wavy lines cast across.
I find myself watching the machine more and more each day, hoping that one day she'll get better and I'll see her again. Or it might be because after all that happened there's always this aching feeling that she's never going to wake up and I'm just going to be alone forever. I don't want that. I just want Emma back.
It got to the early afternoon and me and Emma were still lying in the bed, whilst my thoughts vacated my mind. I was interupted when I saw a nurse walk in, just assuming she was doing her weekly machine hook ups I said nothing. This was until she came over to the bed and stood next to Emma watching me.
"Can I help you?" I looked up at her, remaining my upkeeped position on the bed. She looked at me nervously them smiled. "Yes, I've been told to come and talk to you via Doctor Whale." I nodded and couldn't help but roll my eyes. Whale. God, words can't express how much that man annoys me." I was snapped out of this when the nurse began to speak again.
"He would like me tell you that we have Emma booked in for multiple tests this afternoon, starting in an hour to address her..." She looked down at Emma and began talking again. "Situation." I sat upright in the bed, now paying my full attention forward. "What tests? I thought that was it."
The nurse smiled before shaking her head. "No. Doctor Whale has requested that we complete some more tests to determine her type of coma. We also need to do seperate tests for different aspects, such as imaging scans of the brain and breathing tests to see if any help is needed." She awaited my answer as everything floated through my head. "I'm guessing she'll need to moved to a new room?" The nurse nodded politely. "Yes, it would be appreciated if you could get her ready and the porter will be with you in just under an hour." I smiled back, my mind still trying to take everything in. "Yes, I will do." She left the room, leaving me with Emma.
I sat in the bed staring into blankness after the nurse left for a few minutes or so until I finally decided to move. I kissed Emma's cheek before shuffling of the bed, sitting on the floor and finding a new gown for Emma.
After this is I got back on the bed and held Emma's hand with my hook. "Just getting you changed love, I'll be careful, I promise." I soothed her and then let go of her hand, gripping my hook around her back to keep her upright whilst I pulled her gown of. I threw it down next to me and pulled the new gown over her head and her body. I was precautious of her abdomen, stopping and checking it before carrying on.
After I finished I plumped her pillows and lay her back down on the bed before sitting on the floor. I organized the bags and shoved the now empty bottle of rum inside with the laundry and toiletries, trying to hide it.
I got of the floor my knees clicking and walked around the room hanging the bags on the rails and walking back around, ringing the bell as I got into bed.
The nurse came back to the room, pushing the double doors open as she came in then she came and stood next to the bed, and looked down at me before speaking. "Can I help you Mr Jones?" She asked me, her eyes full of bewilderment as to why I asked her to come.
I looked up at her before speaking and smiled. "Can you please tell me about what will happen with Emma's leg? It's been in a cast for a long time now and at the last check up the doctor said that it was healing nicely, when will she be able to have her cast off and have a doctor begin therapy to help it heal?" I asked the nurse, awaiting a reply.
She smiled back at me. "Yes Mr Jones I understand where you're coming from. I will ask Dr whale and get him to do a check up on it as well this afternoon." I nodded appreciatively and she smiled and left the room.
After she left I sat in the bed with Emma and awaited the hour to fly past me.

When the hour was finished Dr whale and the porter came into the room along with a few other nurses. He came and stood by the bed as the nurses unplug the machines on Emma, getting her ready. I stood and watched them until Dr whale came and stood in the way to talk to me directly.
I roll my eyes at him before he started talking and I could tell he noticed from the expression on his face before he began talking. "Good afternoon Mr Jones." He started to speak in a bitter tone. "I'm sure a nurse has already explained the procedure so I'll tell you what you need to know now. The examination will be on for about a couple of hours and it will involve a few procedures to check the type of coma Emma is in." I nodded, trying to avoid the conversation matter.
"The nurses will be on standby to ensure no problems occur and the benefit of these procedures is that we will know what coma Emma is in and it will help us evaluate the situation in the long-term." The nurse interrupted him with a tap on the back and a nod. "Shall we get started?" I answered back. "Yeah, go ahead."
He then asked the nurses to help move Emma onto the bed next to her and I walked over, grabbing her hand before she was pushed out of the room through the dwindling corridors.
"Let's get these tests done love, then we'll know how get you back." I kissed her cheek as we made our way to the check up room.
