Jaemin's POV

"You...what?" Renjun asked, eyes wide open like a deer in headlights.

I took a deep breath, then repeated myself. "I said: 'I like you'."

Renjun looked down, away from me, and stared at the water intensely. "You...like me? As in...you like like me?"

"Yes, I like like you." I affirmed, surprising myself with how straightforward I was being. On the outside, I probably seem confident and relaxed, but on the inside, I'm nervous as hell and my heart is beating rapidly in my chest.

Renjun stayed quiet as he seemed to think the weeds surrounding the lake were the most interesting thing in the world. His silence only made me more anxious of what he would say next.

After few agonizing minutes, Renjun spoke up. "I...I don't know what to say. I-"

"I knew it, you don't like me back. I expected you to reject me, so I had some time to prepare myself. I also probably ruined our friendship after I just made up with you. I probably should've just shut my mouth. I-"

"Jaemin! Just shut up!" Renjun yelled causing me to instantly clamp my mouth shut. He inhaled to calm down and then looked at me apologetically.

"Sorry for yelling. It was the only way I could get you to shut up..." He rubbed his neck softly with an awkward smile on his face as I told him it was okay.

"Anyways..." Renjun said, looking back to me as he held my hands in his. "Jaemin..."

"Y-yeah?"

"I..." He looked to the side and chewed on his bottom lip, seeming nervous. "I'm not...not going to...."

I looked at him in confusion as he spoke to quietly for me to hear the rest. "Come on, Renjun. Speak up, I can't hear you..."

"I- I'm not going to...reject you..."

My eyes widened and my heart spread up at an alarming rate. Did I hear that correctly? Did he really say he won't reject me?

Although on the inside I was freaking out, I answered him composedly. "Are you saying, you like me back?"

"No...yes...I don't know..." Renjun said, obviously seeming more nervous then I am based of his stuttering, or maybe I'm just easy at hiding it. Renjun then took a deep breath before looking back at me, seeming to finally make up his mind.

"Yes, I...like you, Na Jaemin."
