Don't forget to star it ! <3
A R A B E L L AThe wind whipped past me, creating the familiar whistling sound that buzzed through my ears. My breathing still steady after half an hour of running continuously around the track. Even though my sweat started to drip down as if i'm melting, I ignored it and continue pushing myself.
" Twenty," Gabriel said out loud, almost too high for his vocal.
I'm currently running on a four hundred metre track, and now it is the twentieth round without me breathing and panting like a dog.
I hope you're proud of me dad.
The other remaining chosen, which only twenty-five made it through the first trial were tapping out, leaving with only four of us running. At first, there are a total of forty chosen ones from different villages. From my village, only twelve were picked— including me.
Behind me are three males, their breathing starting to get more ragged and eventually two tap out. As I steadied my pace, I know I was three rounds above the guy behind me and all of a sudden, he appeared beside me, sweating madly.
" H-how are you," he paused before catching his breath, " not tired?"
The guy had dark brown curls sitting atop of his head, standing at probably five foot nine with a body built like a fighter. My eyes took a quick glance at him and he was already contorting his face in pain.
" I train," I shrugged, smiling and he kept quiet before tapping out. Eventually, I became tired and the sharp burn on my thigh were too much too handle so I slowed down and met up with Gabriel; who had his mouth hung wide open and eyes as wide as a saucer.
" What?" I asked, out of breath.
Madeline tossed me my bottle of water that had some salt in it and I gulp it down. Grimacing, I shake my head and swipe off my sweat. Yes, it taste like sea water— duh but it is actually good for your health. After all those sweating, we need to replenish back the salt we lost.
" You freaking ran thirty rounds on a four hundred metre long track?! Are you insane?!" Gabriel shriek like a girl and I burst out laughing.
" Arabella," Sir Keran's deep voice snapped me out of my laughter and I turn my body to look at his face. Even though his face is expressionless, I could see a little tad bit of pride in his eyes.
" Good morning, Sir," I greeted and he nodded, facing Gabriel who was standing with a clip board to record my timing.
" Come Gabriel," Gabriel did not hesitate to follow Sir Keran behind and he shot me a smile before disappearing within the crowd of riders.
" Holy guacamole, Bella, you are a machine," Jessabelle squealed as we began to walk back to campus. Austin is busy training; since he is in the second tier, he has to train the fourth tier in combat.
