Chapter 1 | First day back

"Fuck..." I sighed. Tomorrow is the first day of senior year then off to college. I hated school but I enjoyed making my parents proud, even though they aren't my real parents. They are the only ones who took me in. They also took my little brother Alvin Jr., AJ for short. My dad, Lee protected us as much as he could and my mom, Carley, kept us fed because dad can't cook for shit but he trys and that's all that counts. I love them so much. They helped me through a lot.

I heard a knock on my door. "Come in!" I said as I was reading a book. "Hey Honey, I got you this book from Barnes and Noble. I think you might like it." Mom said as she handed me this navy blue book. "Thanks mom." I said with a smile. "I'll read it in home room tomorrow." I added. I love reading of course when I don't have my brother annoying the fuck out of me. She left my room and I turned my lights off. I started to doze off in my bed. "I hope tomorrow goes by fast." I yawned.

At school
I parked my car and headed into the school. I met up with my friends, Marlon, Brody, Aasim, Omar, Mitch, Mariana, Violet, Sophie, Minerva, Gabe, and Duck. Yeah, I know, I have a whole lotta friends. Too many friends right? We've been a group since elementary school. "Hey guys!" I said with a smile. Everyone smiled at me and I sat at our table we basically claimed. "Hey that's cool." Marlon said as he looked at our schedules. "What?" I asked. "We all have home room together!" He said with a smile. "That is lucky." Mari said. "No kidding. Last time we had a class together since middle school." Brody said. I stayed quiet. Vi looked at me. "You okay Clem?" She asked. "Huh? Oh uh yeah, I'm fine." I said. "Okay, you know you can talk to me right?" She asked. I nodded as I put my earphones in my ears.

***BRRRINGGG***

The first day of school is the easiest day of the year. Why? Because we sit in home room all day for 4 hours. I walked in and I sat in the area my friends were. A new guy walked in. I've never seen him around the school. He has a head of dreads, a black Champion hoodie, a pair of Jordan's shoes, and he had blue faded jeans on. Why the fuck is this guy here? He's wearing at least 5 grand right now. That shit is too rich for my blood. I'm not gonna lie, he's kinda cute. I felt someone tap on my shoulder. "Who's the new guy?" Brody asked. "I have no idea nor do I care." I said. Brody is my best friend, my ride or die. Same with Violet. She backed me up in a fight last year when some bitch was talking shit about my family and about how my brother and I were adopted. Stupid bitch, at least my family wanted me. Most of the kids here are terrified of me. I made sure of that. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed that the new guy was staring at me. I got nervous. It's not that serious. I don't know why, I never get nervous when a guy looks at me. Usually id say something like, 'Hey wanna lose some teeth? Keep staring.' something badass like that. "Louis? The principal would like to see you." The teacher said. I looked at the new guy. Louis? So that's your name. He got up and left the class. "What does Diaz want with him?" I asked. "Why do I care?" Vi asked. I rolled my eyes.

***BRRRINGGG***

The bell rang for lunch, about time. My fat ass needs food. I went to my locker and grabbed my car keys. I close my locker to see security right there. "Clementine. Diaz would like to see you." She asked. "Brianna, hey, how was your summer?" I asked. "Vacation of course. I'm guessing you slept all summer." She said. "Oh Brianna, you know me so well." I smiled. "Sadly." She said. I headed to the office. Great. Diaz is gonna starve me. I mean I could sue the school. I've been needing a new closet. I entered the office and sitting at the desk with Diaz was Louis. "Good morning Clementine, please take a seat." He said. "Hey Diaz, can you hurry this up? You know how lines are at in n out." I said. He sighed as I sat down next to Louis. "This is Louis Anderson." He said. "Yeah, i know. Why am I here?" I asked. "Will you shut up and listen?" He asked. I rolled my eyes. "He just moved here from California." he said. "Cool, can I go now?" I asked. "Clementine." He said. "I told Louis that you would give him a tour of the school." He said while looking at Louis. "Am I getting paid?" I asked. "No." He said. "Well I didn't volunteer so, if you don't mind, I have to go." I said. "You are as stubborn as a bull Everett. You will show him around or something help me, I'll find a reason to suspend you." He said. I groaned. "Fine. I'll take him on a stupid tour." I said. "Good, out." He said.
