Chapter 24 | Not the Same

I woke up next to Clementine, who was still out of it. I got up and grabbed my backpack. I texted Vi.

L-Hey can you pick me up for school since you have my car.
V-Yeah I'm on my way.
L-Thanks...
V-No problem Lou.

I sat next to Clementine. "Hey beautiful. I just woke up and Vi is gonna take me to school since she has my car." I said as I looked at her. Her eyebrows moved. Her eyebrow started to bleed a little. "You moved." I said. I got up and grabbed a napkin. I cleaned her eyebrow. "Don't worry baby. I'll take care of you." I said to her. I kissed her forehead. I turned on the TV. "Look babe, it's Family Guy." I giggled. I looked over at her. I sighed. Vi knocked on the door. "Hey Lou." She said. "You're a little early." I said. "Yeah I know, I wanted to see her for longer than 10 seconds." She said. She walked over to Clem and grabbed her hand. "Hey Clem, I'll make sure to record any fights today for ya." She smiled. We both looked at Clem. She gave a slight smirk that disappeared as fast as it showed. "Holy shit, she heard me." Vi said. "I've been talking to her all morning and last night." I said. "Did she make any movements?" She asked. "No just her eyebrows twitched." I said. "Huh? Weird." She said. She looked at her phone. "We gotta go." Vi said. I nodded. "I gotta go to school baby, I love you so much Clementine." I kissed her forehead. I walked out. "Bye Clem." Vi said as she closed the door.

We got to school. Classes weren't the same without Clementine. Soon lunch came by. I sat at our table we basically claimed. Soon Brody and Vi sat down. Then Sophie and Minnie. After them was Mari and Duck. "How is she?" Brody asked. "Well she kinda smirked at Vi and I." I said. "She smiled?" She asked. "For a second." I said. "Who did this to her..." Duck mumbled. "Marlon..." I mumbled. Everyone looked at me with shock. "Are you serious?!" Mari asked. I nodded. Marlon walked over. Everyone in the group stood up and backed away. "You told them?" He mumbled. I nodded. Minnie slapped his lunch on the floor and walked away with Vi. We all started following Minnie. Minnie stopped and looked at me. "Fight him." She said. "No.." I said. "Defend Clementine Louis. He hurt her. She's in a fucking coma because of him. You do it or I will." She said. "Minnie he's already broken enough." I said. "Fine." Minnie said as she walked to Marlon. "Wait." I said. She stopped. "I'll do it after school..." I said. She walked back to me. "You better, she can't defend herself right now cuz she's in a coma. Don't forget how she was when you first brought her in. He did that to her. He beat a girl half to death." She said as she walked back to Violet. We followed again. I gave Marlon a dirty look. I walked away. During home room there was an assembly held to show support to Clementine. I took a video of the whole thing so that she can see it when she wakes up. If she does.. They showed a picture of her in the hospital. Everyone felt our pain. Soon videos of all of us and the stupid shit we do came one. We all laughed. Then a video of Clem and I came on.

"Okay, you recording?" Clem asked. "Yeah, go." I yelled. "Okay AJ come here." She yelled. AJ climbed onto the trampoline. She put AJ on her shoulders. "Okay now Louis, set up the camera and come here." She said. I set the camera somewhere. I ran over to her. "Okay now carefully pick me up and put me on your shoulders." She said. I slowly picked her up. She was on my shoulders and she had AJ on her shoulders. "I swear Louis if you drop us." She said. "I won't." I said. "Okay Brody!" Clem yelled. "Yeah..oh my god. How did you guys do that?" Brody asked as she got into frame. "Take a picture please before we fall." Brody took her phone out and took the picture. AJ jumped off and made me wabble. "AJ!" Clem yelled. "Oops." He said with a smirk. "You did that on purpose!" She said with an annoyed tone. "No but this is on purpose." He said as he pushed me. "Woah!" I yelled as I fell. She fell on me. "Ow!" I gasped. She bursted out laughing. Brody and AJ started laughing. I started laughing too. Brody walked over to the camera and turned it off.

I had tears in my eyes after watching that video. They asked us to talk to everyone about how she's doing. The principal walked over and gave me a mic. "Hey everyone, you're probably sitting here wondering who is this girl? Well that girl right there is Clementine Everett. Sunday she was jumped at our house. She's in a coma right now but she's doing better. She's the nicest person that I have ever met. She is the best girlfriend a guy could ask for." I said. All of us told some stories of Clem. I took out my keyboard. Minnie and I sang this song we created called. 'Don't Be Afraid.' We created it in music class today. After the assembly was over the bell rang.

I walked to my car with Vi, Minnie, and Brody. We saw Marlon. I felt my blood boil. I stormed to him. Minnie's words echoed in my head. I pushed him against his car. "You are a piece of shit Marlon." I said. Kids started to gather around. Marlon frowned. I punched him in his jaw and he fell to the floor. He got up. "Hit me all you want....I deserve it..." He said. I looked at him with shock.

Is he really that broken from all this. He lost Brody. Then Clementine. Then all of us.

"Fuck you." I said. Minnie kicked Marlon in the nuts. He fell to the floor. "That was for Clementine, asshole." She said. Vi recorded the whole thing. He got up and looked at me. I pushed him again and started packing in punches. Brody and Vi pulled me off of him. "Come on Louis, he isn't worth it." Brody said. "This is for Clementine you bastard!" I yelled. His nose was bleeding. I got up. "Go to hell Marlon." Minnie snarled. We all got in my car and went to the hospital to see Clementine. I walked in. She was still under. "Hey beautiful, it's me, Louis. I'm back from school and Minnie, Vi, and Brody are here to see you." I said as we set our backpacks down. "Oh boy Clem, you missed an assembly dedicated to you. Don't worry, when you wake up I'll show it to you." I said. I laid next to her. I kissed her forehead. "I passed my music test, Minnie did too." I said. Minnie smiles. "We wrote you a song Clem." She said. "We'll play it for you when you wake up." Minnie added. After a few hours Minnie left with Vi and Brody. I turned the TV on. "Look at that, our favorite show, Ghost Adventures." I said as she laid still. I started to doze off. "I love you baby girl." I said as I kissed her forehead. I fell asleep.

Please wake up soon Clementine..it's not the same without you and your eye rolls. It's not the same without your hugs and kisses. It's not the same without your sarcasm and giggles...
