Chapter 2 | The Ski Lodge

I woke up to Louis nudging me. "Hey I'm sorry to wake you up but can you drive?" He asked. I noticed we were at McDonald's. "Yeah of course." I said with a smile. I got out of the car and noticed Vi and Minnie weren't there. "Where are the girls?" I asked. "Vi is hungry and Minnie said she had to piss." Louis said. "Oh okay." I said nervously. "You hungry?" He asked. "Starving." I said. We went inside and he bought me some chicken nuggets. When we finished eating, we got back on the road. The girls put their earphones back in. "So how far are we?" I asked. "We have about 2 hours left, I think." Louis said as he looked at me. I look back at him for a second before turning my attention back to the road. "You have beautiful eyes, you know that?" Louis said. My face went pink. "Uh...thanks, no one has ever said that to me.." I said as butterflies filled my stomach. "Seriously? Well people are blind to not notice your eyes." Louis said turning pink too. "More like they don't care enough to look at me." I said with a giggle. He giggled too. "So uh how old are you?" He asked. "17, how about you?" I asked him back. "Oh I'm 17 too." He smiled. "What month?" He asked. "I was born in December." I could tell he was smiling at me from the corner of my eye. "I'm older than you by 3 months." He chuckled. "It's not that serious." I said as I rolled my eyes. "Well I'm gonna take a nap, I don't know why but I couldn't sleep last night." He said. "Sorry about that. Sleep well I guess." I said. After a while, Louis and the girls fell asleep in the car. "Well Clementine.." I sighed. "You sure did make some weird friends...Hmm...
no kidding Clementine, maybe cause you're the kind of person who talks to herself when she's alone.." I rolled my eyes at myself.

After what felt like hours, we made it to the Ski lodge. I parked the car next to Marlon and got out. I walked up to him. Marlon is like the big brother I've never had. The big brother I've always wanted if I'm being honest. "I'm guessing Lou had you drive and fell asleep in the car." He asked with a smile. "You guess right." I said, rolling my eyes. "You okay? You look nervous." He said. "It's just...actually it's nothing." I said while I looked to the horizon. "Clementine it's not nothing. You know you can talk to me. I'm your big brother." Marlon said. "It's just...Gabe is becoming so obsessed with me. Ever since we broke up in 8th grade, He's been obsessed. Always asking where I'm at or what I'm doing. Telling me what I can and can't do. Telling me who I can and can't hang out with...It's kinda creepy. Whenever I do something wrong or something that pisses him off, he threatens me. I feel like he's gonna end up hurting me at some point." I said as I teared up. Marlon pulled me into a hug. "Hey, don't cry Clem. I won't let anyone hurt you. You are like a sister to me. Nobody is gonna hurt you as long as I live. I promise you that." Marlon said as he wiped my tears. I hugged him back. "Cheer up, kiddo. We got a ski lodge all to ourselves." He smiled. I chuckled. "Let's wake everyone up and head inside. It's starting to snow." I nodded and headed to Louis' car to wake him, Minnie, and Vi up. Vi and Minnie stepped out of the car. Vi noticed my puffy eyes. She walked over to me and gave me a huge hug. "You okay Clem?" She asked. "Yeah, Marlon helped me calm down." I said. "Don't worry I'll explain later." I added. Vi nodded and went to grab her stuff out of the Marlon's trunk. I opened the passenger door and woke Louis up. He got out of the car and he also noticed my puffy eyes. "Clem? Were you crying?" He asked as he had a concerned look. "Yeah..but Marlon helped me calm down.." Before I could say anything else, he wrapped his arms around me. He pulled me into his embrace and held me tight. His hug made me cry again. I needed his hug. "It's gonna be okay Clementine. I don't know what your going through but I'll keep you safe. I'll do whatever it takes to help keep that smile of yours on your face." He said as he wiped my tears. We made eye contact and kept it for a minute.

Louis POV
She was hurting, I could tell. I wanted to give her the world. We locked eyes and I wanted to kiss her. Badly. I can't. I don't want to make things awkward. I don't even know if she likes me like that. I feel so bad for her. Someone like her doesn't deserve to feel pain. "C'mon, it's getting cold. I'll help you with your bags." I said with a smile. She nodded as she smiled back. We went inside. "Alright to we have about 10 rooms here. So I guess pick your partners."

Clementine POV
As soon as Marlon said to pick partners, Louis and Gabe looked at me. Brody went with Marlon and Vi went with Minnie. Mariana went with Duck. Only one of us would have a room to ourselves. Sounds nice. I smiled and turned to the staircase "C'mon Louis." I said as I started up the stairs. I couldn't help but to smile. We picked a vacant room and went inside. There was only one bed, a king size. I knew Gabe was angry but I honestly don't give a shit. I know I'm gonna have to hear his bullshit later. "You didn't have to pick me, you know." Louis said as he put his bag on the left side of the bed. "But I did. Is that a problem?" I asked with a smile. "No, not at all. I'm actually glad you picked me." He said. He jumped onto the bed next to me. I looked over and smiled. I decided to tease him. "Oh and Louis?" I asked. "Yeah?" "Don't forget to stay on your side of the bed." I said with a giggle. He turned pink. "That's uh that's the plan." He said with a nervous tone. We were in our room for about an hour. "Hey shitheads come down here!" I heard Marlon yell from downstairs. I rolled my eyes. We went downstairs and saw Marlon next to a fire pit. "Thats not gonna set this place on fire?" I asked. "Nope, stone surrounds the pit." He said. We all sit down on chairs. It has a camping type vibe and I loved it. "It's time to play truth or dare." Marlon said as he looked around the room at all of us. "I'll go first." He said. He looked at Louis. "Let's spice this up." He smiled. "Louis, truth or dare?" He asked. "Well since you want to 'spice' things up, dare." Louis said with confidence. "I dare you to.." Marlon looked around the room and locked eyes with me. Butterflies filled my stomach. "Okay Louis, I dare you to kiss Clementine for at least 10 seconds." Marlon said. Louis and I froze. My heart dropped. Is he serious? Louis looked at me. "I don't have to do this if you don't want me to." He said as his face went pink. "A dare is a dare Lou." I said as I felt butterflies continue to fill in my stomach. Louis smiled and cupped my face. He pulled me in for a kiss. The kiss deepened and it became more passionate. We couldn't find the strength to separate. Marlon separated us. "Jeez guys calm down, I said 10 seconds not 10 minutes." He said as he sat back down. Louis and I look at each other. "Who's turn is it now?" Brody asked. "Clementine?" He asked. "Nah, I hate this game." I said. "Why?" Vi asked. "It's very dangerous." I giggled. I got up and headed to my room. "Party pooper!" Marlon yelled. I saw Gabe walking down the stairs as I was going up them. He was pissed. He stopped me. "What now Gabe." I asked. "You'll regret picking Louis." He snarled. He pushed me aside. Who the fuck does he think he's fucking with?

Louis POV
Gabe walked over and sat next to me. "I warned you to stay away from her." He whispered. I was confused. "Okay, Vi, your turn." Brody said. "Okay, Duck. Truth or dare?" She asked. "Dare." Duck said. "I dare you to jump around in the snow." She said. "That's it?" He asked. "Naked." She smiled. "Oh I gotta record this." I smiled. We all went out side with our phones out as Duck undressed. He ran into the snow and we were laughing.

"GET OFF OF ME ASSHOLE!!!"
