Chapter 37 | Back to You

I showed dad more pictures of me when I was younger. "You have my eyes." He said. I looked at him. "Yeah I do." I smiled. I showed him pictures of AJ and videos of us playing in the tree house. I decided to show him the picture of me in the hospital. "What happened?" He asked with a sad face. "Marlon...beat me up.." I said. "I was in a coma for 2 weeks but I forgave him because I know he didn't mean it." I said. He grabbed me and held me. "I know I wasn't there in your life but please, let me make it up to you." He said. I teared up. "Of course dad." I said. "I don't know about AJ though, you would have to ask my adoptive parents." I said.

Looks like I have two dads. I'll still consider Lee and Carley my parents. I love them so much.

I got a call from Louis.

"Hey beautiful, we made it to LA, where are you?" He asked. "Long story short I'm at my biological dads house. I'll send you the address and before you ask, I told him about you guys so no need to introduce yourselves." I said. I hung up before he could say anything.

"Who was that?" Dad asked. "Oh it was Louis, him and my friends are here so they'll be here soon." I said. "Can I get you anything?" He asked. "Uh I'm a little hungry." I said. He smiled and went into the kitchen. After 20 minutes, there was a knock on the door. "I'll get it." I said as I put my plate down. I opened the door and saw Louis. "Louis!" I yelled. I hugged him. "Thank god you are okay, you had me worr-" I cut him off by kissing him. "Mhhpp...." I pulled away and hugged Brody and Vi. "I missed you guys so much." I said. "Girl you almost killed us." Brody said. I turned to Marlon and hugged him. "Hey sis, how you feeling?" He asked. "I'm alright." I said. We walked in and sat on the couch. My dad brought us some more food. "Awe man, I didn't notice how hungry I was." I said as I stuffed food in my mouth. I looked at my friends. "Oh, right." I said as I swallowed my food. "So guys, this is my biological dad..." I said. "Call me Ted." He said. Louis gave him a dirty look. Louis is the only one who knows what my dad did. "You're a real piece of shit you know." Louis said. "Louis." I snarled. I grabbed his hand and took him to my room. I closed the door behind us. "What the fuck?" I asked. "He left you and your mom, why are you being nice and everything?" He asked. "because....he has Cancer Louis....I know what he did was wrong but...when he was talking to me....I could tell her regrets everything....He's also AJ's dad..." I said. Louis eyes widen. He has sadness written on his face. "I'm sorry...I didn't know." He said. I smiled and kissed him. I grabbed his hand and we went back out. "So dad, you like LA better than Georgia?" I asked. "Well it never snows and it barely rains, so yeah." He said. My dad stood up. "Marlon, I just want to make something clear. You hurt my daughter again, I will find yo ass and beat you to a pulp, understand?" He said. Our eyes widen. We looked over at Marlon. He stood up. "I promise sir, I don't want to hurt your daughter." He said. My dad nodded and looked at Louis. "Louis, can I speak to you please?" He asked. Louis nodded and they went outside.

Louis' POV
I walked outside with her dad. We sat on the step. "You love my daughter?" He asked. "Yeah, she's everything to me." I said. He handed me a beer. "I know you're from here. She told me. She also told me you risked your life for her." he said. I took the beer and we both started drinking. "I respect you, I won't be there to protect her because I'm here. I want to you protect her. Keep my daughter happy. I wish I could but I don't got much time left. I know I just met her but she is my baby and I love her to death. So please, keep her safe." He said. I placed my hand on his shoulder. "You have my word Ted." I said. "You guys plan on having kids?" He asked. "Someday, yeah, we've talked about it." I said. "Have you two picked any names?" He asked. I smiled. "If we have a son, she picked Elijah and if we have a daughter, she picked Mia, after her moms middle name." I said. He teared up. "I hope that one day I'll see a grandchild." He said. "I know she forgave you but, if you want a good relationship with her, just talk to her. She's been through so much." I said. He nodded and we went inside. "Marlon, you want one?" Ted asked as he grabbed a beer. "Yeah." He said. Ted tossed him the can. "Thanks." He said. We spent hours at Ted's and soon Clem fell asleep in my arms. "I'll take her to her room." I said. I picked her up, bridal style and carried her to her room. I got into her room and set her down on the bed. I placed the blanket over her. Vi walked in. "Ted said we can stay the night." She said. I nodded. I left her there for a few minutes. I walked into the living room. "Hey Ted, you got a minute?" I asked. "Of course son." He said. Everyone went to bed. Ted and I sat on the couch. "So I do plan on marrying your daughter some day and well I hope you are around to meet the kids we have and be there in her life but I don't know how long you're gonna be here. I really want to help out so please let me pay for all of your chemotherapy." I said. "You don't have to son. It's too much for you to pay for let alone me to pay for." He said. "I was born into a rich family. Clem is everything to me and you are everything to her even though she doesn't know it yet." I said. He teared up and hugged me. "God bless you." He said. "Now that that's settled, I'm going to go to bed. "Thank you for taking care of her." I said. "She's all I have." He said. "Goodnight Ted." I said. I walked into her room and took my shirt off. I laid down next to her and started to fall asleep.

I woke up and looked at the time. It's 3:00 in the morning. I looked over at Clem. She was sweating bullets and tears fell down her face. Shit..Her nightmares are back. I grabbed her body and held her in my arms. She was shaking. I started humming to her. Her heart was racing. She started mumbling. She woke up and started crying. I held her close as I continued to hum a song to her. She soon dozed off in my arms. I wiped her tears and fell asleep with her in my arms.
