Magic and Moving

I made it through the glass door at the front of the main building. They opened for me automatically but I bet that was because of magic. Past the glass door and directly to my left was the front office. Another set of glass door, this time I had to push open, and-boom! I was in. Inside it looked pretty much like a regular office. There was a desk there with a computer and some files on it. Some comfortable-looking  chairs situated in a corner. And a door leading back that read Headmaster's Office.

What was odd about the office however was the lady in a brightly colored dress levitating mail into cubbies that hung from the wall. She hummed a cheerful song while she used magic to make the letters fall into their perspective mail boxes for the teachers . I shuffled my feet, not really sure what to do. I didn't want to disturb her while she was busy. I let out a soft cough and she suddenly turned to me with a bright smile. Suddenly the mail behind her dropped, as suddenly let go from someone arms. They made a soft thud against the ground but the lady paid no mind.

"Can I help you, dear?" She said in loud but gentle voice.

"Yes, I'm Avery Grimsbane... I'm new?"

"Ah, yes, forgive me. We have been waiting for you, Avery!" The lady rushed behind her deck, I watched her type quickly on her computer before eyes darkened and her brow furrowed with confusion.

"Oh dear...forgive me, sweet. We knew you were coming but it seems nobody set up a room for you. And all of the room's in the girl's dorm are full."

I raised my brow. Does that mean I get to go home? Because, there is no way I living in the boys dorm. She looked at me and gave a slight giggle before waving her hand at me.

"Don't worry, sweet. Will figure something out and you'll definitely have somewhere to sleep tonight. But until then here."

She printed something off. Then hand me a white paper with black ink on it. Upon closer inspection, I realized it was a schedule for me.

"You don't have to attend any classes today, but if you want feel free to sit in on them or just go around and learn where everything is. Today is Friday, so you have the whole weekend to get school supplies, but until then try to stay on school property, 'kay?"

"Okay, thank you so much." I nodded and tried to give her a smile. She got up from her desk. And took the handle of my suitcase.

"No problem, sweet pea. Allow me to take your suitcase and after we inspect we will have it sent to your new room."

"Inspect?" I  folded my arms.

"Yes, we inspect every new student for contraband, just to make sure they don't sneak in anything dangerous. But I doubt that you have any Essence of Screams or troll's toe, right?" She let out a soft chortle. I gave her a pity grin and decided just to nod my head.

"We'll call you on the intercom when we need you. Thank you, Ms. Grimsbane."

I thanked her one last time before turning back on my heels and heading back out into the hallway of the school. Upon exiting, I noticed how large the main hall way was. It was also very bright on account of the lateral skylights situated on the high ceilings. I also noted how quiet it was, maybe because everyone is in class.

I decided to wander around. Right off the main hallway were two winding staircases and on the ground floor two more hallway going in opposite directions. Between the stairs was a massive golden chandelier hanging from the ceiling, it was beautiful. On the ground floor one of the hallways said '100 hall' and on the other it '500 hall'. I looked at the schedule in my hand. My first period class was 'History of Witchcraft 100' in classroom 210. My guess was that the 200 hundred hallway was upstairs.
