I saw a boy at lunch who caused me to turn away and drop my tray into the trash can so there would be nothing in my hands when I fled.
"Anna! Wait! Just hear me out!" Kaenix called after me as I walked quickly out the dining hall.
His voice made me increase my speed. We were the only two in the hallway other student's enjoying their hour lunch period just as much as the teacher's did. The sounds of his steps in tune with mine made me realize that there was no way to outrun him. With his long legs, he easily caught to me and grabbed me by the crook of my elbow. I wrenched away from him spinning around to face him.
"There is nothing to explain," I growled,"You're a bully! A person who preys on the weak, the lowest of the low."
"Come on, why so angry? It's not like I was bullying you, right?"
I whirled around to glare at him piercingly," At my last school, your type bullied me all the time, I don't need you to bully me to know you're not a good person."
So quick, my head was still spinning, I was pushed against the lockers. Kaenix's firm arms on either side of my head. Nobody else was in this hall with us. Everyone was in their lunch hour. No teacher nor student would come this way till the end of the period. Nobody could help me and that scared me.
But what truly terrified me was the look on Kaenix's face. His eyes two different colors had the same look, twin burning rage. His mouth slightly parted, where I could see his teeth bared. His jaw was clenched.
He was so close, but he moved even closer to press his lips to my ear. His hot breath blowing as he whispered angry words,"I'm a bad person? Yeah, you might be right. I'm a bad guy, who's done horrible things that I'm probably gonna burn for, but you know what? You're a bad person too. You said you'd be my friend, WE SHOOK ON IT!" he slammed his hand against the locker, causing me to jump.
He pulled his face back from my ear to look back at my face. His face a cold sadness," What kind of friend calls another friend names?"
"A-A bad friend..." I whispered back. Closing my eyes, I tried to force back tears.
"That's right. I may be a bad person but you're a bad friend. We're perfect for each other. A match made in hell..."He muttered, lifting his hand from the locker to toy with my hair. This guy is crazy,"I...I'm sorry, Kaenix." I whispered, trying to placate him.
"Don't be sorry, be careful. You are right. I am a bad person, babygirl. But you haven't seen how bad I can get, so please don't push me, yeah?"
I was terrified this brought back every memory of my bullied highschool and then some. It reminded me of why Kaenix was in that hospital in my vision and it was why I know I need to save him. Before he hurts someone or himself.
I looked him in the eye. Fueled by my resolve and passion,"Yeah, Kaenix. I get it."
For a minute he continued to stare at me. His sharp gray and blue eyes scanning over my face. What he was looking for was lost on me but he pulled away from me, smiling.
He pushed off the lockers and folded his arms,"Excellent! I'm glad, we were able to solve that amicably. Now come on. During your little tantrum, you threw away your lunch. Sit with me, Styxx and Fang and I'll buy you another lunch." He tugged my hand to pull me off the lockers and wrapped his arm around my waist and this time I let him. I quietly follow along because I have a new objective.
