WESSEX

     | IN THE FOLLOWING DAYS EVERYONE WAS QUITE A STIR. Buzzing about with their daily chores, with moods in good spirits. Birds chirped away intermingling with the voices of the chattering people. The Danes had been put to peace thus preventing a war between the Danes and Saxons— a war that wasn't needed. And that made the everyone grateful that the men didn't have to die for outrageous reasons. Then of course, came Hild and her being upset that she wasn't told of Viserya's pregnancy first. And she surely let her know it....

Viserya gathered her supplies, neatly placing them upon the large wooden table just within her reaching distance. Even against Beocca's wish for her not to be straining herself, she carefully unraveled the map out, revealing all the kingdoms. Wessex, Merica, Northumbria, East Anglia, Essex...

Even Bebbanburg had been marked. She soothed her finger around the dried ink of the X, the very one that Alfred had placed when he promised her they would help take it back for Uhtred. Uhtred was more a brother to her—more so than the ragnarrsons. So when he had told her of what his uncle did, she promised him when her dragons were bigger—she would take it back.

She glanced to the upper region of the wrinkled map, where enlarged land mass replaced half the map; Kattegat her home. A smile dashed across her lips as she traced her finger around the dried paint. Memories of her childhood with Ragnar, Uhtred and Finan, with her brothers flooded her mind. She missed Ragnar but now it was her time to make new memories.

Then her eyes lingered down to the unknown and unmarked section of the map. It was slighty below where Kattegat resided. A mass that was just barely noticeable. One that she had started to draw from what she read in books and from what she learned from Beocca—especially from the maps he had given her.

The W was barely visible as she had only traced over it once with ink. The smile slowly faded away from her lips as she locked her sight upon the land. Westeros... she mumbled under her breath.
