Is it Worth the Pain?

When I was in the house, I introduced myself.

"Hello, I'm Maya" I said in a shy quite voice.

"Hello Maya. I'm Mrs. Colburn" she said. She sounded nice, but I can't judge a book by its cover.

"Mom I'm gunna show her around" Alex said as he started pushing me towards the kitchen.

"This is the kitchen, and over here a little bit down the hall is my room. Down here is the bathroom and my moms room is on the other side of the house near the living room." He said pushing me around corners and down hallways.

"Wait so where will I be staying again?" I asked

"My room" he said. He sounded like it was no big deal.

"Oh ok" I said, pretending to sound like it was no big deal. "I think I want to go to sleep now. I'm pretty tired"

"Oh ok." Alex said "You sleep on my bed and I'll sleep on the floor"

"Oh come on Alex you know I can't do that. You sleep on the bed I'll sleep on the floor." I said

"No Maya you're the guest and I really don't mind sleeping on the floor" he said. I didn't want to be rude but I could barley keep my eyes open because I was so tired.

"Since you didn't bring your clothes, you can borrow one of my big shirts and sweat pant to go to sleep in. We can go shopping for clothes for you tomorrow." He said. I really don't deserve him... He's too perfect.

"Thank you. You have no idea how much this means to me" I said as a smile spread across my face. "Goodnight Maya. I'll be going to sleep soon also" he said as he walked into the living room. While I climbed into his bed, I couldn't help but overhear his conversation with his mom.

"That's my friend, Maya. She was kicked out of her house and really needed someone. I decided to take her in." He said

"Why was she kicked out? Was she doing drugs or something?" His mom asked

"Mom no! It's complicated. She tried commiting suicide and when her mom found out, her mom kicked her out of the house. She just really needed someone and I wanted to be that someone to help her." He said. He's so caring and nice. I love him.

"Oh I'm sorry, Alex. She can stay as long as she needs to or wants to" his mom said

"Ok good. I'm going to bed. Goodnight mom love you." He said. He headed into the room and I closed my eyes, pretending to be asleep.

I eventually drifted into a deep sleep.

I woke up in the middle of the night, my heart was beating fast and I was sweating just a little. I had a really bad dream and was freaking out.

"Alex? Are you awake?" I said with a shaky voice

"Yes I am. Are you ok?"

"Not really. I had a bad dream."

"Oh. Will you be ok?"

"Yeah I think"

"Just in case" he said climbing into the bed with me "I'll stay right by your side."

"Thank you, Alex." I said

"No problem. Anytime. Goodnight Maya I love you" he said

"I love you too" I replied

Hey guys! Sorry it's taking me a long time to write each chapter. I have homework and projects and things like that but I will keep writing!
