Once the bell rang, I thought Alex was going to go to his first period, but he said no.
"But Alex your grade will drop" I said
"I don't care Maya. I'm staying with you. I'm switching my classes to your classes so I can make sure your ok" he said
"Aww Alex you don't have to go through all that trouble just for me" I said. He really didn't, but I guess he wants to.
"Well I am. Anyway, let's go to first period" he said as he started pushing me to room 203.
On the way to class, I got another text from Lexi.
"Hey loser. Looks like you didn't learn. You have no idea what's coming. It's way worse than that picture by the way. Because you're hanging out with Alex, you'll get even worse. Watch your back loser ;)"
I was reading it and I know Alex was reading it over my shoulder.
"Don't listen to her Maya. I'll protect you. I promise" he said.
"Thank you" I replied. He's so nice and caring.
After first period, Alex and I walked to class and everyone stared at me. I didn't really care though. It was mostly because of the wheelchair because I hit about 3 tables trying to get to my spot. Pretty much the same thing happened throughout the day.
At the end of the day, Alex was going to drive me back to his house but he said he had to go to after school detention, so I waited for him to finish in the courtyard. Of course, Lexi comes over and sits next to me with her little posse. "Hey loser. What are you doing" she asked. "Waiting for Alex.. Why?" I replied. "Oh no reason. But it's good that your alone because we need to talk. I told you to stay away from Alex. It looks like you haven't learned." She said. "Well why do you care if I hang out with him? He doesn't like you Lexi. Stop being so desperate" I said.
"What did you just say?"
"I said stop being desperate" I replied fearlessly
"You thing I'm being desperate?" She said standing up slowly
"Yes I do. You ALWAYS want to be around Alex and you want Alex all to yourself." I said
"Ok now you've gone too far" She said as she swung her fist and hit my right cheek, knocking me to the ground.
"What the fuck Lexi" I said as I looked at her, covering my right cheek. It hurt really bad. It felt like a stinging, stabbing, burning pain. I tried to get up when her posse pushed me down and started punching and kicking me. They kicked me in the face over and over, then the stomach, then the legs. My nose was bleeding, I could barley breath, my legs really hurt, and I couldn't open my left eye.
At least 30 mins later, Alex came out and found me. It felt like 3 years for me. My vision was blurry and I could barley breath.
"Maya, Maya can you hear me" I heard Alex say. Yes I can hear you, I just can't talk. I tried nodding my head so he knows I'm ok, but all it caused was more pain. But I did manage to moan just a little.
"Maya I'm going to call 911" he said with a shaking voice. I think he was crying but I'm not sure. It started raining and each rain drop felt like acid.
I heard ambulance sirens and everything turned black.
