Leo's POV
"Get the fuck out of here!" I screamed at Ned, Kate was slumped on the floor, clutching her cheek in pain.

On seeing me enter the room Ned realised he was no where near as big or strong as me and he felt I wasn't worth the fight, "I'll be back" he shouted he ran down the stairs and out the front door cursing.

I dropped down to Kate's level, "Kate are you okay?, what happened, did he hurt you?" I bombarded her with questions, concerned.

"He- he was- he was looking around- our room and- and then I saw him and confronted him and then he- he hit me". She stammered out clearly in shock.

I wrapped my arm around her, "it's okay Kate, he's gone now, let me see your cheek", I pulled her hand away from her face gently to be met with a very red, very swollen cheek.

"It's very swollen, I'll get you something to help it, stay right where you are". Quickly I ran down the stairs two at a time and grabbed ice packs Kate kept in the freezer for when the kids got sports injuries. I grabbed a packet of painkillers from the medicine cupboard aswell.

"Here" I said as I held the ice pack to her face, "take two of these, they should help the pain" I said as I handed her two painkillers.

"Leo it's okay, I can hold it myself, I'm fine really," she started "it was only a little tap"
"Kate your beautiful face is going blue," I protested "that man is insane!"

"I- I guess you're right, but Leo he shouted that he will be back, I don't want him to hurt you or the kids, what about the triplets?, he knows I'm pregnant," I panicked

"Don't worry Kate, I'll protect you all, I'll never let anyone hurt you" I soothed to her as I lifted her gently up onto her bed and kissed her lips tenderly.

She slipped under the covers as I closed the blinds to let her sleep off the pain for a while

"Thank you Leo, thank you for everything,".

"I love you" she whispered as she drifted off to sleep holding my hand.
