Clementine
Another week of school over, means that the much necessary weekend had arrived. Clem could go home on Friday knowing her and Louis were back on good terms. Not just good terms but fully clear air, and sealed it with a kiss.
After all that time, she began to miss his presence - and the feeling of his lips on hers.Bouncing into the living room was her younger brother, AJ. He'd just returned from a day trip, where he was able to create some drawings and other art activities. He's wasn't as good as Louis, but she'd never tell him that.
"Clem, look what I drew in school! My friend, Tenn, is an artist and helped me to do it. He's my first real friend." He rambled, coming in through the door.
Shoving the picture in her face, Clem took it from him to view. "Wow, that's great AJ. I have a good friend that's an artist too. He also plays piano." She said, looking up to see her brother looking on in amazement.
"That's so cool. Have I met your friend before?" He asked in wonder.
Clem lightly giggled, at her brothers bad memory. "Yeah, you've met him. His name is Louis."
"Oh, yeah." AJ muttered, remembering the dread head. "I like him. He's nice." He simply added.
Clem just smiled at the picture. The background was a farm, with chickens by their feet. It was AJ stood next to Clem, with only one leg, saying "I'll protect you, Clem!"
Seeing that AJ drew only one leg made her oddly feel happy. Because, in the past, AJ would draw Clem with two legs. Which, was even after the accident. It made her feel happy knowing her brother draw her accurately - and showed it was the norm and didn't question it."Why not put it on the fridge? For everyone to see how good of an artist you are." Clem suggested, handing the paper back to the goofball.
"Good idea!" He screamed, snatching the paper in excitement and running to the kitchen.
"How's the sign language going?" Lee speaks, entering the living room.
Clem put her laptop to the side, focusing on the new conversation. "It's going good. I managed to learn some basic phrases." She said, feeling giddy at the memory to complimenting Louis's smile but in signs.
"That's good. I bet Louis appreciates it more than you think." Her dad spoke, thinking back to the dread head boy he'd met.
"Maybe." Clem shrugged, still knowing that what her dad said was true.
There was a comfortable pause, with the father and daughter duo not speaking.
Sipping on his tea, Lee nonchalantly said "I know that you like the boy. I've seen how you look at him."
With widened eyes, Clem craned over her neck to view her dad. "What?" She asked, confused.
Grinning like a teen girl himself, Lee spoke "Come on Clemmy. Spill the tea." Trying to be relatable made Clem cringe.
"C'mon. I know you like him." Lee said in a sing song voice, teasingly, nudging his daughter with his arm.
The girl playful scoffed with rolled eyes, and then admitted, "Fine. I do like him. There, happy?" It was the first time she'd ever admitted her feelings for the boy, out loud.
Strangely it didn't scare her to say.
