Emerald's POV

"So what brings you in?" Dr. Cooke sat in the stool looking at my charts.

Even though being pregnant isn't the worst thing that can happen I didn't want to say it out loud. Once I got up the nerve to say it she already knew.

"Baby number 2?" I laid back and shook my head yes. She let out a chuckle and stood.

"It's not funny Doc." I found myself laughing too. I knew I had no reason to be embarrassed but a part of me wasn't ready for everything that came with being pregnant again. If this was four years down the line I would be ecstatic but now I'm just nervous.

"It's just that you were like this the first time and that time you told me that you were pregnant. You came in here and sat down like someone stole your best friend." She continued to laugh as she pictured the scene.

"That's true" I added  her while I began to mellow out.

"So what set this off this time?" She clicked her pen to take notes.

"I got real sick like a week ago and I had been getting really big. Like the weight I have been putting on is crazy..." I made an effort to fill her in on every possible aspect.

"Out of all of the things you have told me you haven't said anything about protection." She had me at a loss for words.

"I mean well we weren't trying to but we definitely weren't trying not to." I was explaining myself like I was a kid.

"We will run some test and see what happens. Sit tight for me ok." She slapped my thigh before calling a nurse in. I almost had a heart attack when I saw that needle.

"It's ok I just need some blood. The doctor will rush your results so you don't have to stay here long." It really wasn't ok. The fear I have of needles kicked in instantly.

"I can't just pee in a cup?" I asked trying to run.

"You have to do both." She took some time to calm me down. She went through the entire process from start to finish. She told me what each valve of blood would be used for which took my mind off the pain. Once she left the room I checked my phone to see that Erica really felt special that I invited her earlier.

A half hour later

"Good new and bad news." I automatically perked up to Listen to her. My heart stopped in the moment of silence.

"You aren't pregnant but the symptoms you are experiencing are connected to chlamydia. Have you recently switched sexual partners?" I was grateful that she cut straight to the chase. I stared at her trying to completely understand what the hell she just said. Switched partners? No. Thought about it? Yes but no I haven't.

"No" the fire in my belly was snuffed out. I haven't slept with anyone other than Sloane.

"This is fairly new since you hadn't tested positive before or even during your pregnancy. Everyone reacts to things different. Some people go with out symptoms." She flipped through papers checking her answers. I thought back as far as I could to every sexual instance but I came up with nothing.

"Are you sure?" I honestly didn't want to sit in this office anymore. My blood began to boil as she talked. Out of all the times that Tay has popped up or that I have been upset but I couldn't never.

"It's treatable. Emerald you will need to..." It was like her voice cut off. The doctors lips moved but no sound came out. She explained it over and over again. Even though I made sure that I understood her I was still lost. She complied when I demanded another pregnancy test and when it came back I lost it. A positive pregnancy test would have changed my world. In the back of my mind I knew that I would be running home telling him that he was going to be a father again instead of wondering how I'm going to kill him.
