Sloane's POV

Two weeks later

We both went to the doctor and took the steps to get better. At first, in the last two weeks I have only seen E in passing and she barley spoke out side of wedding planning. By the second week she was at least speaking to me again. I made it a point to speak to her and tell her how much I loved her. The gifts I gave her sat untouched until tonight.

"The baby is asleep and clean all this stuff up and... and baby just go up stairs." She called from the foyer. I had moved in to the living room. The once classy room was nice nothing short of my bedroom. From the day E went to the doctor I realized that sleeping in my office was unbearable so I settled for the couch. E hadn't kept the baby from me which many women would have. I was bursting with excitement from the inside out that I was at least going to sleep in my own bed.

"Are you sure?" I asked loud enough for her to hear me from the other room.

"I miss you." She admitted. I couldn't believe it.

"Really?" I hopped up walking towards the front door. I caught a glimpse of her after she sat down to put on her shoes.

On any other day I would have stripped her naked but I don't really have that privilege anymore or at least not yet

On any other day I would have stripped her naked but I don't really have that privilege anymore or at least not yet.

"I do. I honestly do." She ran her fingers through her hair just barely looking at me.

"You look beautiful." I couldn't continue with the topic of conversation.

"Thank you." Her words were still as emotionless and vague as before but at least she was speaking.

"Where..." I stopped. Asking where she was going was only going to start a conversation I didn't want to ask. I knew her rebuttal was going to be "well why do you care?" And I didn't want to here it.

"Out." She responds standing up. She didn't give me a chance to speak before she continued.

"I'm going out.  Don't forget you have a doctors appointment tomorrow." I instead on a check up to show her I was cured. It was partially for the sex but it was honestly for her. I missed her. The real her was buried under layers of hurt and pain. I admit I caused some of it but the majority was definitely pain from Deontay.

"I'll be back. Can you make sure my son is ok? You know he has that little cold." She spoke to me as if I was a babysitter and not they boy's father.

"I'll make sure our son is ok." I said correcting her. I was going to continue to fight for her because it seemed like I was making progress.

"I..." She took a deep breath before finishing. I hope that she wasn't going to do what I thought she was.

"I love you... baby I really fucking do and I hate it." She wiped her eyes in an attempt to save her make up. I didn't know where this was coming from but I could tell she had to get something off of her chest.
