After the good night's rest Lyanna stood again in her black leather clothes, the only color that was in her clothes came from the golden stag pin that was holding her collar. The morning air was brisk and Lyanna smiles as she saw her uncle standing, waiting for her.
"How long has it been since you held a sword?" Jaime asks her and she frowns.
"Last time I wield it was before you left, the last time I hold oe was yesterday when we arrived." She tells him, reminding him to how and especially why she's here.
"That's a long time." Jaime says and Lyanna nods in agreement.
"I made my father a promise. I could only pick up a sword if my life was in danger or whec I had to practice with a proper teacher, when my teacher left I had no one to practice with." She smiles. She missed her father more than anything.
"The practice would do you good." Jaime says and Lyanna nod again, she remembered his words, his every lesson.Ser Godric watched carefully from a safe distance, while the two of them practiced. He never understood why she hadn't asked him to practice with, but somehow he could understand her too, he could never hurt her and she wouldn't want anyone to go light on her because she is the princess. He listened to her giggles and he couldn't suppress a smile. He hadn't seen her really smile since they left Winterfell. He missed that sound so much but he never really knew how to make her laugh that real.
As Godric kept his gaze on the princess his mind went to overdrive. He was assigned to the princess by King Robert but when Robert had died it was his duty to report back to the next King. Who was Joffrey. Godric had instead followed his princess. He had fles with her, therefore he was an oathbreaker. He could never go back to King's Landing again.
They couldn't raise a hand against Ser Jaime when he broke his oath, but Godric, he was no one. Ser Godric of the Princess' guard as he was called by both King Robert and the fellow King's Guard man. He had not the privilege of bearing a last name, especially not a name of one of the Great Houses of Westeros."Come on, you need to eat something before you leave again. " Jaime says and Lyanna looks at him, she had no hunger, she never had. They had trained all day.
"I am fine, Jaime, I promise." She assures her uncle, "Besides, there was something I needed to discuss before I leave." She adds.
"Then let's discuss over dinner, because I am starving." Jaime took his chance and Lyanna couldn't refuse now, "But if this is about Littlefinger, I have very little to say."
"I know, I know." Lyanna says and she sighs, she could imagine how Jaime thought of it, how most people would think of it.
"Good, because we don't choose who we love and I for certain am not one to judge." He simply says and Lyanna appreciated this.
"It was about Ser Godric that I wanted to talk, but thank you."
"What about your knight in shining armour? You wonder what will happen to him, don't you? It was you who dragged him here after all." He starts to fill in the blanks himself and Lyanna could only nod.
"He's my friend, my only friend. What will happen to him? He only did his duty. Protecting me, like he has always done. I disgraced him, I should have never made him join me." Lyanna felt tears in his eyes and quickly wiped them away as maidens brought their dinner.
"He did what he was ordered to do, protect the princess. He served the King faithfully and The Lord Commander knows it." Jaime assures her and he didn't quite know if he needed to comfort her now or if he should act like he hadn't seen the tears.
"But Joff- King Joffrey, he will see it as treason." Lyanna says and she sighs.
"Yes, he probably will, as I said yesterday, Father- my Lord Father will understand and will be thankful that someone kept his granddaughter safe and to have him remember where tou came from." Jaime says and Lyanna looks at him.
"Why would I forget where I came from? I would never forget." Lyanna frowns.
"War changes people," Jaime says, "Your family... The Baratheon side, is well known for their parts and especially their love for war. No one would blame you if you also find that same love. It's in your blood after all." He continued, "It's always good to have someone bringing you back from the darkness."
Lyanna looks at him, she didn't know what to say so she just took a bite of whatever laid in front of her. "Especially if the one you love isn't around for the moment." Jaime spoke softly and his green eyes pierced through Lyanna's blue ones.
