Lyanna and the rest of the Royal party was staying at the Inn at the Crossroads. It was located in the Riverlands, near the River Trident.
Lyanna knocked on her father’s door. Which was briefly answered it with a loud ‘Yes?’, so she stepped into her father's room, to see him standing in front of the window with a large cup of wine in his hands, he turned around to her and he smiles.
“What is it, my child?” He asks and she sit down on the chair near to him.
“I’ve thought about the offer you made, Father, and I came here with an answer.” She says politely, she rests her hands on the armrests, and King Robert could not suppress the thought of how great a Queen she would have been. “I don’t want to be married to someone that far from home. Even though he might be the best match for me. I would love to welcome the Stark girl into our family, but I will not be ‘shipped off’ to some grey land.” She stated.
King Robert let out a low laugh, and he petted Lyanna on the shoulder. “I expected nothing else from you, to be honest with you. You are too smart for your own good.” He says, and his eyes narrowed in pleasure, “I imagine there is nothing I can say to change your mind.” He adds.
Lyanna looks at her father, the King. “I’m afraid not, Father.” She admits to him and she straighten her back. “I’ve thought long and hard about this.”
King Robert filled hos cup again, and he poured some wine into another cup. “Sometimes I wonder if you shouldn’t be ruling instead of me.” He says as he hands over the cup to Lyanna.
“I should not drink, Father, not before practice.” Lyanna says as she declines the cup, “Uncle Jaime says that it might make your reaction time a little slower, and the blood spilling quicker.” She adds and she get up.
“You quite enjoy the time together, or don’t you, Lyanna?” He asks her. Lyanna nods in all honesty. “Good, now go, as I see that you want to be somewhere else as we speak.” He adds.
Lyanna thanked her father and she quickly left. After a short walk Jaime stops at an open field next to the river. “Lesson of today: Don’t fall into the river.” He says with a smile. The moonlight was just enough to mark where the water started and the grass stopped.
“Then I hope you can swim, Ser.” Lyanna says and she chuckles. Jaime’s smile widened a bit and he threw her the trainings sword, which she catches elegantly.
“You know, it’s good to practice in the darkness, as all your other senses are heightened when one of the senses are disabled.” Lyanna states, as she takes a few steps away from the river and from Jaime. She pointed her sword towards him.
Jaime was delighted about how much she had learn over the past few days, and he admired how quickly she learns and how passionate she could be about it. He really started to connect with his niece over the course of these lessons.
“I told Robert that I declined his offer.” She tells Jaime as they waited for the other one to make their first move, “He expected it already.” She adds and she took a small step towards him which he reacted to by taking a large step closer and he swung his sword to her which she blocked in a smooth move.
“That’s good, because although you are quite good already, there’s still much room for improvements.” Jaime says as he used his sword to set Lyanna in the right position, sideways, straight back, chin slightly up and always looking at the enemy, Lyanna remembered not to look at his eyes as they could be misleading. When his eyes say left he could easily go right, so you should take in the person as a whole.
“There’s always room for improvements.” Lyanna stated and she takes a step back, “No one is perfect.” She adds. The rest of the month was pretty much the same routine. They made camp or they would stay in an Inn that would be on the kings road. Every morning they would have breakfast together, then they would hit the road until the sun was about to set. After everyone was at their tents or rooms Lyanna and Jaime would head somewhere quiet to practice, and then the day would be over. Lyanna had giver her father an answer, she would not marry the Stark boy, and Robert was okay with it. In the last week Cersei had discovered about Lyanna’s secret meetings with Jaime and she had threatened her. Her exact words often echoed through Lyanna’s head: “The next time I see or hear you have picked up a sword again I have you strangled in your sleep.” Lyanna knew she had meant it, and thus she knew better than to secretly went on with training. She decided to behave like a lady to please her mother, at least until they would be back in the Red Keep.
